It's a type of cowpea similar to the black eyed pea but much much creamier and better. It is healthy and tastes so yummy I could live off of it for weeks.

You can get them frozen this time of year across the U. S. South. I don't know about Canada. I've been able to find them in NYC fresh when in season. They are just packed with fiber, protein and taste. My body is so happy when I eat them.

I might have to look them up and see if I can get then in Toronto at a market. If they are in Canada they would be there.

No not at all they are so much better. They are similar to blacked eyed peas but a creamier texture and richer flavor. I don't care for black eyed peas but I love purple hulls.

Yes I could see them being put in a salad in lieu of a black eyed pea. They look similar to black eyed peas being it that they are off white with an purple/ violet colored eye. The violet could possibly look almost blue.
