Ok y'all.
Thigh gap is a manifestation of a wide hip angle. Specifically, a wide "quadriceps angle" (Q angle). This would be 0º if the shin and thigh bones were in a perfect straight line. The more off-vertical the thigh bone, the bigger (wider) the angle.
Q angle is genetically determined. It's been a "thing" since antiquity -- and understandably so, since wider set hips are associated with safer childbirth (and higher levels of fertility-related hormones, but the ancients didn't know that part). if you look at stone statues of ancient fertility goddesses, they have insanely wide Q angles.
The only thing new about "thigh gap" is that it's the combination of wide Q-angle and youthful bodyfat distribution. Basically, thigh gap means you are a skinny young woman with genetically wide hips.
Okay.
Now, on to the fun part.
If yr hips are wide enough to give you a thigh gap, then you can't really stand up straight, or walk, or run, without misaligning yr knees. It's like having an invisible hand shoving outward on both thighs and both calves, from the inside out. Ouch!
Eventually, this can lead to the following:
1) patellofemoral sydrome (yr kneecap stops tracking correctly between yr shin and thigh, and can get stuck in awkward positions under stress)
2) arthritis in the outer knees and/or meniscus tears, from all that extra friction inside the angle
3) "knock knees" (genu valgum), where your knees start to look like sideways elbows.
If you are an athlete and have this kind of build, the risk is especially severe, because of the stresses along this angle: bretcontreras. com/wp-content/uploads/Capture32. jpg
Most coaches of girls'/women's sports know exactly jack shit about these issues, too -- even at elite levels. Blaaa.
If you have thigh gap / wide hip angle, go see a physical therapist, NOW, and get on a program of inner-knee-strengthening exercises. Seriously, go, NOW. Being able to walk without arthritis at 40 is a good thing, girls.
If you have thigh gap AND flat feet, this is especially urgent. If you don't start "pre-hab" NOW, you can destroy yr knees by yr mid 30's.
Also, high heels exaggerate Q-angle problems. If you have a significant thigh gap, you should avoid wearing them altogether. Can't win 'em all.
(If you are like me -- with the hips of a 14-year-old boy and exaggerated foot arches -- then, believe it or not, wearing heels can actually take stress OFF yr knees.)

a thigh gap comes with your genetic.. you can't do anything about it... it's like how Asians have thigh gaps not because theyre thin but they walk differently they bow a lot and it's a thing with your bones.
In South Korea there is this surgury you can do to get rid of the thigh gap called bow leg surgery!!!

The reason many women you see have a thigh gap is because they have quite wide hips. If you have a different hip shape, it could be possible with a lot of exercise though it isn't certain to work.
Don't worry about it if you can't get a thigh gap though, it's just a trend albeit one I thought had already started to die out.No, not every woman can get one. There are many factors that determine if a woman has a thigh gap, it's not just about weight. It has more to do with bone structure.
I honestly don't understand the whole "thigh gap" craze anyway. I have a small one naturally but no guy has ever told me "omg, I love your thigh gap." Haha I feel like this is just something women seem to care about, not something men particularly notice. I doubt it even factors much into a man's attraction to someone. No, unless she is dangerously underweight. I have a friend who was obsessed with having a thigh gap when she was younger, she had very narrow hips but starving herself till 38kg she got a thigh gap. That's not healthy!
If you have wide hips and are in a good shape, yes, that will be normal to have a thigh gap.G is for genetics that can't be achieved by everyone, A is for all including me. P is for proof, that science will continue to tell you otherwise. Here in the shallow cities!!!
Not to be rude but why would you want to have a thigh gap? Most girls I know try to get rid of them
Be born with naturally wide hips. That's how you get one. If you don't have them you can't get one, period. And if you do have them you'd still have a thigh gap even if you weren't thin/skinny. You're either bult to have one or you're not.
Have a generic predisposition to out turned hips. That's the only way you'll have one.
Yes. it's just harder for some girls, while natural for others. It all depends on how your body in particular, stores fat. ... To modify or change anything in your body, you must change the way you eat, more so than any exercise.
I think a lot of girls can. I'm trying to get one, it might not be possible for me tho
Yeah, just starve yourself and become a drug addict.
Trying to obtain a thigh gap is an unhealthy goal. What you SHOULD be doing is working out and makin' those thighs strong.Have the bone structure for it. If you don't then stop trying because it's not going to happen, and getting a thigh gap is a stupid trend anyway set by stupid people.
Don't eat. If you don't have the genetics for wider hips, you can only get one by getting pretty extreme diet and exercise. It's often more trouble than it's worth.
Nope. I don't think it matter. Can the girl develop a personality?
Nope. That's something people are just born with. Anyway, it's not the sexiest thing a woman can have, to be honest. I used to be ridiculously attracted to thigh gaps when I was like 13 years old. Now, not really.
There's no way to make yourself have one. Just be happy with that you already have.
No, but why would you want to. Nothing sexier than thick, feminine thighs.
It's based on your body type and genetics, but you want to be fit and low body fat regardless--which for many body types creates a "thigh gap" but for others it doesn't.
I have a thigh gap i was very insecure about it now i'm not , is not important yet it is nice to have one but no i don't think can make a thigh gap lol.
the more important question is... do you need it? and the answer to that is no. either you have one or.
if you like your body than it's good... it doesn't matter if you have one or notI don't think so , I think it's bone structure and if your really skinny
