Did anyone here ever got their front upper teeth treated?

Going to have an upper front tooth treated next week and I'm DEAD SCARED of the anesthesia. Really, really, really scared. I've read so many horror stories by now that it's not even funny.

Can anyone here share their experience? Is there that much pain? What does it feel like, does it sting as if you were putting alcohol on a wound, or does the pitch hurt a bit more than the other injections? Or does it feel like an eletric shock?

anesthesia? Well I don't know how they put that in you and I don't know what they used when they worked on my teeth. But anyway they way I had it done is they gave four injections directly into my gums (didn't hurt a bit) Well only a little bit when they do it around the tongue just because its a bit softer there

Actually, the softer the tissue, the better, because the needle can go in and out without much fuss. Harder tissues (for example, the roof of the mouth) have to be stabbed.

Anaesthetics are meant to prevent pain... So just relax.

No the alcohol does not sting. Tiny sting when they shoot you with the needle. Once the anaesthetics do their thing (basically instantly) you don't feel anything anymore.

the shot to the roof of the mouth and under the tongue hurt the most.

Why would I be shot on the roof or under the tongue though? I think those are mostly for surgeries.

because that's where your main nerves are

No they aren't, they are on your gums as well. That's where pulp infections come from. The nerves run through the gums into your teeth, and they end up in the pulp. If they only existed under the tongue or in the roof of the mouth, you would never feel pain from the tooth (toothache).

Yea but if you are only treating one tooth, nerve blocking from the gums is the most effective way. It's my first time treating front tooth, but I've already been to the dentist countless times and I know how it works and why. The only thing that changes is the pressure they have to make.

for someone so knowledgeable of the human anatomy u shouldn't be so scared of a little shot. none of shots compare to a shot of anesthesia to the pad of your finger. you're looking at like at 5-6 on the pain scale.

I know :p but usually they are 2-3/10 or less. I'm a dental phobic, so every little thing in the dental office leaves me panicking.

By far the worst pain I've felt was cutting my thumb down into 2 pieces (you could see the muscle inside) and having it disinfected with alcohol without any anesthesia or anything for the pain. By far that was at least a 9/10, but it lasted only 10-20 seconds. Yet I didn't panic. If this happened in the dentist chair, I would have passed out immediately.
