Who all on here has had their wisdom teeth removed?

What was your experience like? I'm getting mine looked at in May then schedule to get them removed from there. I plan on getting all 4 removed.

It’s all about insurance & whoever you choose just make sure they are in your network & covered. My dentist wanted to take one & they said they could do however they wouldn’t administer anesthesia so I found an oral surgeon instead. My dentist wanted to take one & I told the oral surgeon I wanted to make this a one stop shop & to take all of my wisdom teeth. 1,2,3 they knocked me out & after that I was on my way home after stopping at the pharmacy to pick up my goodie bag. At home I took out the gauze, cleaned a little blood out & took a nice nap after taking candy from my goodie bag. As for work I cashed in two weeks of sick time just to be on the safe side & it gave me plenty of time to rest & recover as well & watch tv as well.

When it comes to eating food stick to mashed potatoes or anything that is light so you don’t have to bite down. I made bacon & eggs, don’t go with bacon because I felt that. Protein shakes are good. Also invest in a waterpik & use that to keep the wisdom teeth holes clean until the holes heal & close but go lightly with the waterpik.

You’ll be fine I had mine taken out three years ago.

Yeah that was not fun. Basically the dentist gave me some novacaine and pulled them out with plyers. Unfortunately they didn't give me enough so she had to stop midway through one and give me more drugs.

Ugh yes, I had all 4 of mine taken out a couple years ago! Honestly, the idea of it freaked me out way more than the actual thing. I was totally knocked out for the surgery (thank god), and when I woke up I was just super loopy and giggly—it felt like a weird dream. The first couple days after were a little rough, like swollen cheeks and lots of smoothies, but I just binged Netflix the whole time. Just make sure you follow the aftercare stuff—they’ll tell you no straws (to avoid dry socket) and to rinse gently. You’ll do great, girl. Stock up on ice packs and pudding, trust me! :)

I got mine removed before spring break in college. I spent a week basically eating nothing but pudding and applesauce because I was afraid of hurting my jaw. It was just a cycle of waiting to take my next round of pain meds for a long while too. I’m sure you’ll be fine, and keep an eye on how you feel after the anesthetic. That surgery helped me realize that common anesthetics make me really nauseous so some anti-nausea meds might not hurt either.

I better stack up on pudding then, I will keep an I on how I feel afterwards. I plan on getting knocked out for it.

Having some on hand was mostly to help me take my meds because I can’t swallow pills so it was easier to crush them and mix them. Follow their instructions for surgery prep and also for keeping it clean, do the saline rinses they tell you to do and you should be golden. They’re going to give you some heavy painkillers in the aftermath — TAKE THEM. I didn’t bc I was afraid of opioids and it made my time that much worse

It wasn't bad the first time but I have a hard time waking up from the anesthesia 😔

I had to be knocked out completely. They had to cut into my gums and get them out because there was no space for them. I woke up the next morning and couldn't remember anything about the day before. I could barely open my mouth for like a week and trying not to get food stuck in there was annoying.

I have, wasn't a pleasant experience for me but they hadn't grown out so they had to both cut and break, got startled when I heard the break but that was just the first. Was painless with the local anaesthetic tho, fair share of swelling and uncomfort afterwards.

Me. Mine had to be cut out of the jaw, so I was put under. Recovery wasn't fun, especially because one of the wounds got an abcess. But healing was quick.

Yo. Got general anesthesia, woke up high as fuck. Couldn't eat anything solid for a few weeks, and had keep the surgery sites flushed clean

Yup, all four! And it wasn't like I had a surplus of wisdom leading up to that moment either.

Apparently 35% of the population don't have wisdom teeth, but I'm sure I'm even thought I might be lacking the teeth, I'm not lacking the wisdom!

Some dentist advocate there removal in late teens, early 20's even if the teeth are not causing a problem. But it's not always necessary if the wisdom teeth are not causing a problem, and your dentist can monitor the situation.

Maybe what you should be asking is if anyone hasn't had their wisdom teeth out, and there hasn't been any problems with them, and vice versa.

You'll need to take some sick days to recover, cuz your cheeks with look a squirrel with a mouthful of nuts, and then their is the pain.

But if you DON'T do it, then it'll be worse!

They only do 3 local injections and most of the pain was from the injection itself; The first one was done by a student with a not-so steady hand.
Still not too bad.
