On getting implants?

This came up because me and my mom were talking about how my cousin is self conscious about her body and wanted mine because I don't gain fat. I mentioned that I didn't like mine either and that I was thinking of implants in the future. My mother told me that my body could change in the future and that it will be a waste. thiIs s true? I thought that your body stops changing sexually around 16-18. I've had the same body since middle school so I doubt that it would change in those areas as an adult. She also mentioned that you can die from implants.

Ok, well, I had a breast augmentation (BA) when I was 29 years old, and I've never even *sort* of regretted it.
My whole life up to that point I'd felt... well, inadequate. So, this was hardly a spur-of-the-moment decision -- it was, quite literally, something I'd wanted for pretty much my entire adult life.
Even though I spent several years working internationally as an editorial model -- a career I couldn't have had if I'd had bigger "girls" -- I STILL felt, deep down inside, that something was just, well, missing up top. That feeling persisted through meeting the love of my life, getting married, giving birth, and breastfeeding my firstborn, too. It was only after ALL of those things that I finally decided to pull the trigger on the BA operation.

I mean... I think you see my point here.

If you don't, then, here is my point, more explicitly. Actually, a couple of points.

• If you have smaller "girls" right now, that might actually present certain unique opportunities to you. (For me, that was a modeling career. For other women, it's athletics. Could be any number of other things.) Don't overlook the possibilities you have in the present.

• Yr body WILL undergo a number of changes in the future -- because YOU will undergo a number of changes in the future.
You are... sort of correct, that yr body has probably accomplished *most* of its major changes, by this point. But certainly not ALL of them!
*** First of all, you just aren't done growing and developing yet. I mean, a 17-year-old girl looks like a 17-year-old girl. Could you cast a 17-year-old girl as a body double for a 25-year-old in Hollywood? Well, no, of course you couldn't. Think about why.
*** Second, you will almost certainly experience hormonal changes that will trickle down to yr "girls". You'll probably go on and off various forms of birth control. You'll likely gain and lose at least SOME weight -- and even small fluctuations can influence the shape of yr body (in good ways, mostly!).
*** Even being in and out of relationships and regular sexual activity, and/or patterns of stress and sleep, can alter yr hormonal balance enough to change the shape of yr body. (Try googling for studies on how work-related stress can change women's body shape away from an "hourglass", toward a more rectangular shape -- yep, that's actually a thing, believe it or not.)

• Of course, if you are planning on having children, then that's going to have significant

effects on yr breasts, since... those are made to feed yr babes!
A first pregnancy has much greater effects on yr overall body silhouette than any later pregnancies, so, by the time you get through that, you should have a pretty good idea of a "final" shape (provided you don't have any BIG weight fluctuations in yr future -- those are always preventable, as long as you manage yr diet, stress, and lifestyle responsibly).

You CAN get a BA earlier -- but, the earlier you get one, the greater the chance that you'll undergo changes that distort the silhouette that it creates.
If that happens, then it isn't the end of the world -- a competent surgeon can do a revision that will create a pleasant, natural-looking silhouette again -- but, of course, that means another operation.

TL;DR --

• The BEST time to do a BA is in yr mid-late 20's or later, and/or after you give birth to yr first baby. Basically, the later the better -- if the surgeon is

working on what's going to be the "final version" of you, as opposed to version 4.0 out of 7.0, then you'll look better in the long term.

• You CAN do it earlier. But, the earlier you do it, the harder it is for a surgeon to predict what's going to work in the long term, because there's more randomness as to what can happen down the road.

Also -- You should NOT "cut costs" with this procedure.
If you get a chance, you should come here to Southern California, and have an operation with a well-known surgeon who specializes in doing this operation for women YOUR age with YOUR body type. The going rate should be somewhere between $6000 and $8500 -- if it's lower then you're looking at second-rate work, and if it's higher then someone is ripping you off because they have some level of celebrity (probably from a TV show or movie or something).

If you have GOOD work done, by the way, then, honestly, absolutely no one will know that

... you have had work done. The boys on this thread are talking a bunch of shit -- as boys are won't to do, about this sort of thing -- but, really, they'd be hard-pressed to tell when a woman has had EXCELLENT work done on her body. It's a true wonder to behold.

Still, I would say that you should THINK about this sort of thing for at least 3 years -- preferably about 5 years -- before actually going under the knife to have it done.
That's a long time... but, you have yr whole life ahead of you.

Also, it's an ongoing financial commitment, because you generally need to have a revision operation every 10 to 15 years. (Implants don't last forever; yr body forms scar tissue and adhesions that need to be cleared away; etc.)
There are also different kinds of implants and placements, which there's no reason to go into here -- but, if you have questions about that sort of thing, you can always PM me with those.

If you went to a 3rd world country to have some hack-job done, then, maybe. If this were the 1950's and you had one of the pioneer silicone implants leak all through yr insides... maybe. (Most implants these days are saline -- in other words, just sterile salt water -- so, even if the absolute worst WERE to happen, like a car accident that made yr implant burst inside you, yr body would just absorb the salt water within a couple of days and you would be fine.)

I mean, there is always the 1/10,000,000 or whatever chance of death that results from ANY surgery under anaesthesia, but that's the same whenever they "put you under" for ANYTHING -- whether it's a BA, or getting yr wisdom teeth pulled, or a knee replacement, or anything at all. That has nothing to do with the BA itself, and is just a generic surgery thing.
It's also about 1000 times more likely that you'll die on the road on the way there or back. LOL

I know a girl who went from cupsize A to E between age 17-18. So yeah, it's possible. Your size is also genetic though, so if the other women in your family are flat you'll probably be flat as well.
So yes, your body still changes. After 20 the chance of going through drastic changes (other than weight gain/loss) are much lower, but if you're late it is still possible.

Also, your brains are still fully in development and they stop growing at 24. Which means you will still mentally change. Im 18 and I definitely dont want the same things I wanted at 16. Of course Im still 'me', but I changed a lot and so did the people around me. You cannot simply make a permanent decision like that yet.

Furthermore, boob jobs are indeed quite dangerous. Besides the small chance of them going wrong, getting infections and death, you might also get ugly scarring. The implants probably won't look or feel natural, especially after a few years. You will also have to change them again in a decade or two, forcing you to go through the surgery again (with all the risks and pain and costs included) and if you ever want to take them out, the skin will have been stretched and your boobs will look like flat teabags.
Add that to the fact that it's expensive, recovery after surgery is weeks of pain and misery... why would you want to do all that?

Learn to love your body instead. Work out, get a great butt or something and attract butt guys, buy bras that flatter your body type. You'll get over it.

but implants are a downgrade for me. they look better while you have clothes on but then when it matters, when you take them off, the feeling is inferior and the shape often looks unnatural. size isn't everything...
I'd take some smaller natural boobs over bigger fake ones all day. many guys think similar. So should you ever come to the point where you really wanna do it... do it only for yourself and no because you think other people might like it more

Sounds like either a boob job or butt job. Please don't do either. So many guys, me included, would much rather you were natural. Small boobs are not a problem as they are the best. Big butts aren't that nice either.

I've seen you on GAG quite a lot. You seem to have a lovely personality. That, alone, will win the heart of any guy. Body shape and size fades in importance in someone with a personality like yours.

Everyone's body is different so it is possible for both of you to be right, but if you've had the same body since middle school then you probably won't change much and it's totally fine to move forward with your implants. As far as dying, there's risks with any medical procedure but if you go to a surgeon who is very well qualified then you're chances of a successful surgery go way up! Good luck with everything!

My rule of thumb: Never make major decisions until you've reached a point in your life where you can make those decisions. At 16, you're too young to decide on whether or not you want implants. At the very least, go through a few years of college, then make your decision.
