A high protein diet isn't the way to go if you wish to lose weight.
Unless you're working out insane amounts, excess protein that you consume will be stored as fat. Also, the more muscle you put on, the more your mass will increase seeing as how muscle weighs twice as much as fat. You'll get leaner with certain workouts, but gauging your progress by using a scale is not the best way to do so.
Also, one day of cardio is not nearly enough to lose weight. You need to work out regularly, at least 3-4/week, pairing that with a high-fiber, low-carb diet.

Dont look at the scale unless you've done at least 2 weeks of 1 hour workouts, 5 days a week and have been eating under your daily calorie requirement
It takes 3500 calories burnt to lose a pound of body fat which generally takes anywhere from 1-2 weeks
