I live close to an institute for the blind and everyday they are wandering about, some with dogs some without. There is usually someone in need of help, tapping their cane wandering into traffic, or way off corse. Half the time there is construction in the area with barricades on the sidewalk, dug up street, crosswalk moved. It's like a constantly changing battlefield these poor bastards must navigate daily. They are often off corse and headed for some newly dug danger. I feel bad for how scary and unnerving it must be to try and get around for them. And almost everyday I help someone navigate their way safely.
Yesterday I was asked if I could help this old guy who was lost. Of corse I did and he was grateful but went into a 10 min tyrade about how some racist German white woman had purposely given him wrong directions.
I pointed out that that maybe her being white may not have had much to do with her being an asshole. He agreed and thought that was pretty funny.

two reasons.. one is the person wants to go out.. and two the dog knows where he or she is going and will not walk the walker into danger

Because dogs need walked? They're active creatures. Or the person needs to go somewhere and the dog needs to help them.
