Do you believe in alternative medicine?

Alternative Medicine : any range of medical therapy that is not regarded as orthodox by the medical profession, such as herbalism, homeopathy, and acupuncture

I personally do. Three years ago, I was diagnosed to have thyroid nodules which couldn't be surgically removed because they were "not large enough yet" said my doctor. She also didn't advise me to take medicine to shrink them because it might result to bone brittleness ('cause I was a bit under weight). So basically she just advised me to wait for them to get massive, which I found dreadful and ridiculous as they were really painful especially when I swallow food. Someone has advised me to drink soursop juice twice a day (still drinking it up to now) 'cause he said it pretty shrinks cysts or tumors and reduces inflamation. After a week of drinking it, the pain was gone but the nodules were still there. Then a month or two, I couldn't feel them anymore. Had a thyroid ultrasound to make sure I really got rid of them and I was so happy they were finally gone. Would like to know if you have any alternative med experience? :)

yes i do. just one example. my daughter started teething. we tried ibuprofen and tylenol... they only seemed to work to some extent and we didn't like the idea of dosing her up with meds daily. so we bought these homeopathic tabs and an amber necklace (idea is the amber oils are absorbed by the skin and amber is an anti-inflammatory)... it's been 5 months and she hasn't needed "traditional meds" for her teething

Yes I do. The person who used to be my martial arts trainer also happened to be proficient in acupuncture. It was beneficial, as he knew a lot about pressure points.

I absolutely believe there is some truth to that stuff. I always try to find some other way to treat whatever is going on before taking a medication. I mean using common sense of course, I won't ride out something to the point that I have sepsis but I definitely try to find a different way if there's something reasonable out there.

I do. My sister is a holistic nutritionist. Her whole life has been devoted to alternative medication. Over the years, she's really help my mom with her arthritis. She's really help me with my eating habits.

Oh man, could you share what she does for your mum's arthritis? My mum has also and medicines have merely an effect. :(

Never tried acupuncture 'cause I'm afraid of needles. Didn't it hurt? :D

no it didn't surprisingly, u feel pressure but not the pain. it actually relieves the pain.

I think that it's a great complement to conventional medicine, as it's typically very preventative in nature. However, there are some things that cannot be replaced (like antibiotics for bacterial meningitis).

I am not sure , well , i am looking for medicines that can cure cataract ( my left eye) , without surgery ,

I've read about some eyedrops (but I kinda am scared of trying eyedrops not prescribed by the doctor) and carrot juice diet as eye cataract remedies.

Yes me too, i ask to friend who is doctor about eyedrop he said it is fake , i guess i have to believe him..

It depends on the specific ailment. I don't believe in it for treating more serious illnesses such as cancer.

Most of it doesn't work, or rarely works, for most people.

Some of it works sometimes for some people.

Yes yes yes 1000x yes! I actually believe it is better acting. It actually fixes the issue rather than masks it (like pills do).
