If you are an instructor at a gym, would you ask a client who has a bit body odour to take a shower beforehand?

So this instructor just asked me to take a shower befote working out, infront of a bunch of people. He always had a complex and wants to show off, especially in front of women.
But i must admit i got a little sweaty today, its summer , and decide to go lift a bit before going home and showering.
So id just like to see opinions.
I normally dont feel this way but i felt kinda self conscious after he said that.

Hmmm, well no professional should say that, but simple gym etiquette says you should not wear old gym clothes. It is fine if you smell a bit after you have already been working out for a while, but some people are idiots, or forget fresh clothes and end up re-wearing dirty workout clothes that completely reek! You can tell between that fresher BO and that 3 day old stale shit!

Lol this is kind of funny because that's actually what my job will is a professional trainer, and nah I wouldn't say they have to shower just put on deodorant and I defiantly wouldn't say that to you in front of everyone. Our job is to build you up not break you down.

Disrespectful and unprofessional. You’re paying him for a service so he should be treating you with the utmost respect, consideration, and courtesy. If he really felt it was necessary to say that, then he should; have done so in private. Otherwise, it’s just really piss poor customer service.

Yeah. Well i have heard tjat he sometimes tries to ruin peoples confidence by saying things like:" you can't lift that much man" or "that weight isn't for you" . he never said something like that to me, and id have told him to mind his own shit if he did that. But this was out of the blue and i didn't know if i actually was in the wrong. I just wanted to see some opinions.

Yeah maybe. I dont think the manager comes often its usually just one of 3 instructors. The other two are nice.
But if he would talk down to me id rather actually confront him to his face than go to the manager. He seemed to be cool with me till now, so just let him do him and ymthought hed let me do me. But there was a new girl today and i guess he was trying to impress her. He was with her all the time.

That may have been it but regardless, he is supposed to be a professional. You could say something to his face but when you tell the manager, they actually have the power to punish him or put it in his file or something.

Yeah. he's been cool the last few days , but if he keeps being a jerk ill do something about it. This was the first time he tried hos shit with me and yeah there is a chanve he may have been testing my frame. So if he does some shit again , then ill complain, but first i will call him out on his shit.

Well if you don't smell good, he probably did you a favor by telling you, though I agree he should have done it in private since he embarrassed you in front of everyone. And smelling bad is not common in any gym I've been to. There is usually always someone who smells bad, but it's really annoying and frankly a turn off.

Exactyl! I didn't mean to be rude at all I mean keeping clean is important and all but I agree... you it was late as you say and you must have been tried too. He had no right to say that lol. But you should be stern and inform him that you didn't like what he did.

He won't care, he will just look as if he tried something and failed and then walk away. They are plenty guys who get pissed of at some of his antics and attack him personally ( he's a bit small and he is very self conscious about it). Its just a stupid situation and everyone just goes silent. I just chose to ignore him.
But it did bother me a bit, but im over it.
