Lol, damn swine flu. Just another way for pharmaceutical companies to get paid. I have not had any vaccines since I was a child and I have NEVER gotten swine flu or any of the other big, scary flues that sporadically come and create a big pay day for pharmaceutical companies. Matter of fact, I hardly caught a common cold and I was very social/always out and about around crowds of people during that time.

I was just like you.. Very rarely got sick, never had a flu vaccine or any type of flu.. But mannn the swine flu really made me super sick. My mom kept making soups to try to get me to eat but I swear, all I did for two weeks straight was sleep and sometimes drink fluids.

Nope. Don't really like vaccines so unless I feel they are absolutely necessary I don't get them. Never had a flu vaccine.. Not even after the swine flu lol.

I'm the same way. If I don't need the vaccine to travel overseas then I'm not getting it

I remember it, but I never got it. I heard it actually wasn't that big of a deal, at least not as big as the media made it out to be.

Speaking from experience, it was a pretty big deal. I had never had any flu before or any flu vaccines for that matter and I was sure I was going to die at one point. It was really bad for me.

I think feeling like you're going to die comes from various forms of flu, even the common one.

Oh ok. I never had any flu at all other than the swine flu so maybe that was why I thought it was unusually bad. I just know that I lost 20lbs and did nothing but sleep for like 2 weeks.

I've had the common flu twice and it knocked me out for a couple weeks and I lost about 10-15 pounds. I think Swine flu was just feared because no one ever got it.

Oh wow I didn't realize.

Yeah, it was awful. The first time I got it was in 9th grade, and I had a fever of 102.2 and missed out on my entire spring break and still wasn't well enough to go back to school the following week. The second time was my first year teaching and it was my birthday. I couldn't even sit up without seeing several spots and actually collapsed on the floor. I ended up having to stay with my parents for a week. She didn't take my temperature, but I was so hot the whites of my eyes turned red.

Yeah, I also think it depends on a person's immune system. I know people who have had it and they were over it in like 5 days.

It was so bizarre because I never really got sick before and then BAM! Swine flu.. Haven't gotten so much as a cold since either but I don't know

Yeah, I get colds all the time now lol, but that's mostly because I teach high school and when you're constantly in contact with 600 plus people a day, you just always get sick. That's why teachers get so many sick days each school year and they accumulate because you never know what a student will give you.

I have seen so many hypes about some new epidemics that its quite obvious that its all for money.

Swine flu statistically did less than the yearly flu. We also had avian flu, Sars, BSE, ebola, etc. and yet humanity still isn't even close to extinct.

yes i had it, or a strain of it, it was the worst flu i ever had, puke and diarrhea every 5 minutes and couldnt eat or drink anything cause i would just puke it up. and almost passed out on a few occasions almost called 911.

Yeah it was horrible for me too. I stripped naked at one point and was freaking out because my temperature was so high (106 at one point) and it felt like my brain was cooking. Down and out for like 2 weeks, lost like 20lbs.

Yes, I remember the panic. I was in my last year of high school and my math teacher was convinced she had it, even though it was just sniffles. Dumb bitch she was.

I didn't get it-but I heard enough about it. I was in high school when it got big, someone sniffles "Omg, I like have the like swine flu!"
I didn't get it, I've never gotten the flu.

I got it as far as I know and it was exhausting but otherwise just like any other flu. I slept a lot and was extremely fatigued for about a week.

See I had never had any type of flu so I guess that is why it made me so sick but I thought I was going to die and I was only like 22 😖.

Lol how can I forget it, I got sick off that virus! But I feel like my immune system got stronger because of it, now I rarely even get a small cold

Yep, it was big news back in 2003. I remember watching it on the news and seeing people in China walk around with masks on.

I remember it was relevant when I went to sleep away camp and everyone had to be checked for it before coming into camp. I never had it.

Yeah I remember it. I was traveling the world at the time and when I got back home, I had no idea what the hell anyone was talking about.

In the end, It was all hype and fear driven marketing.
