I think my friend has an eating disorder what should I do?

Firstly, just keep an eye on her (him?). Try and work out what's really going on. If you have real suspicons, enlist the help of someone else. Parents, other friends. You won't be able to tackle this on your own.

@AriadneSky This is something that the asker should be concerned about, otherwise she wouldn't have asked the question. However, she needs to find out if it's true. She could cause a whole lot of anxiety and resentment if she goes in blindly without knowing the facts. If they're close, it shouldn't take long. A few days. What would you do? Go up to her and ask, "Are you anorexic?" That would put her on her guard, she would deny it and try harder to cover it up.

yes i would., i have, how much trust is there going to be if she spies on her. thats not what you do with human beings.

and you don't know she's talking about anorexia. she never sad that.

anyhow yes i've directly asked friends or told them hat thats what i thought. they wee relieved that i out it out there and was not judging or treating them like a case study.

people esp people with issues appreciate being treated like a specimen, it will back fire. it certainly isn't going to help for you to watch them for a few days the present them with facts. better to let them tell you by asking. bc thats respectful. its to court of law. and no friend wants to be policed.

I think that largely depends on the type of eating disorder and the issues that caused it. I'm currently recovering from an eating disorder and - to be honest - if someone had approached me earlier on, I would have just dismissed it and gone on.

At some point you should be talking to your friend about it though. Especially if it worries you.

You need to tell someone they trust so they can try to get them professional help. Talking to someone with a mental illness like an eating disorder is useless. They will just shut you out.
