Should I take biotin supplement for hair loss?
I've heard that biotin helps. Are there any side effects or is it useless? What do you think?
Oh I've been there! I took biotin, it helped me a whole lot. You need to keep in my mind though that biotin works a lot better with a proper diet. I remember taking biotin along with hair loss ampoules from the brand Phyto, that hair treatment worked like magic. I think biotin works if you use other things that prevent hair loss, like anti hair loss shampoo, eating healthy, and applying a hair treatment. I used everything including biotin, and I'll never forget the feeling of satisfaction when my hair loss ended. I recommend visiting a dermatologist instead of going straight to the pharmacy and picking one, because with the help of a dermatologist there is a higher chance you will buy biotin supplement that works. Definitely try biotin, you won't regret it.
Thanks a lot. And what is hair loss ampoules?
Thanks a lot :)
It does help, but there are acne concerns regarding the dosage. I'd recommend hot oil treatments and eating foods that help with hair loss.
hot oil treatment like? And what food do you recommend?
Hot oil treatments using castor oil and coconut oil ( Many recipes out there). As for foods I recommend spinach, lentils, eggs, guava, etc etc. They all really help. Also, an Apple Cider Vinegar wash diluted with water helps to clarify the scalp of impurities. The vinegar helps with hair growth, I've tried it and it works great! Any other questions? I'd love to help!!
Thank you so much :D
No problem! :)
Thanks for MH did you find success in this treatment yet?
I'll order it today :P
Ah best of luck!
Thank you! :) :D
np :) Update me on your progress!
Sure! :)
Thanks :)
It's a decent supplement in my opinion but you have to understand this, biotin helps with the synthesis of proteins which is vital in hair maintenance and growth. What you should focus on is increasing proteins, essential fatty acids and omega-3's, and your water intake should be at the recommended level. Combine this with eight hours of sleep a night and use of a oil like jojoba or argyan, and biotin would be a factor in preventing faster loss. But if you are at risk for male pattern baldness it may be something you just have to accept. As nothing will stop it completely, just slow the inevitable.
I'll try, thanks :)
I have no idea about biotin but again genetics etc play a major part in this. My younger brother had a similar situation since college but maybe not as bad as you describe it. He spent a fortune since those days trying to treat it in an obsessive manner. But end of the day today he's almost bald.
Best get it checked for various aspects before medicating yourself. If it's bound to happen it will, if it can be stopped then proper medical supervision will help.
Alright thanks :)
You're welcome always :)

You need to change your diet and eat plenty of fish rich in omega 3, iron, fish oils, etc. Eat lots of green vegetables, get protein from fish of course, eggs and chicken. If the scalp of your hair is dry, it will eventually fall out because it is not getting enough nutrition and the hair follicles is not retaining moister. Go consult with your PCP [Primary Care Provider] before you state taking any supplements.
I take fish oil green vegetables and eggs on daily basis. My hair are smooth and shiny but my scalp is dry. So, is that the problem?
@Asker Yep, dry scalp. Once you get dry scalp and get split ends, it runs all the way to the root and starts tearing your hair out. I have that problem sadly even with full hair. Your going to have to get essential oils that your scalp won't be allergic too and massage them in your scalp every so often. If you have to wear a night cap to cover your hair over night do so. Sometimes ruff materials other than silk will tear it out too. Especially if your a ruff sleeper. That has always been me. Tossing and turning at night. :(
I don't even know if I'm a rough sleeper. I don't know what's happening after I sleep.
But yeah, I should try using oils. Thanks :)
Yes biotin can help hair growth however you could have male pattern baldness which occurs in men from teems to early 20s it's generic their is nothing that can help it although there are remedies being developed. Also everyone loses at least 100strands of hair a day it could also be that unless it really bad maybe you should have it checked.
Alright, thanks :)
I don't know about supplements, but I wouldn't take it. You said you went to bed late and have a stressful life. Can you go to bed earlier, or do you have work?
Maybe try some stress reducing things. Like exercise, being outdoors, meditation, taking naps etc.
Exercise, being outdoors or meditation can't help. I find it extremely hard to sleep early. I just can't. I don't have work, but the stress don't let me sleep early.
I meant exercise, being outdoors etc. to prevent/remove stress.
Meditation (aka breathing to relax) really helps! You might want to google something about it
I find it hard to sleep early sometimes too. Now for example I FALL asleep at around 0:30 am (estimation). So what I'm trying to do is to try to fall asleep 10-15 minutes earlier everyday, by stopping to go on my phone and to stop the lights 10-15 mins earlier
This might work. Thanks :)
Biotin is a co-enzyme for... I forgot the type of enzyme, I think it's carboxylases? No idea what it has to do with hair loss, though. A biotin deficiency would probably manifest as many different health problems. Good luck!
Thanks!
It only helps with shining your hair, to make it look healthy. When I took it my hair fell less, but if you're concerned that badly , why don't you use Rogaine foam?
Is it Minoxidil?
I guess that's a new name now? But yeah it's minoxidil.
Minoxidil didn't work for me :/
Mmm, biotin did help me though. It made me break out but my hair was beautiful. If you do buy it, buy the 500mcg. Try it out. You never know until you try.
I was thinking about 10000 mcg. Is 5000 mcg better/recommended?
10000mcg is too much to start, I started with 250mcg. As I upped the micrograms my face broke out, first start with a smaller dose.
Thanks a lot :)
Natures Bounty Biotin 1000mcg is what I take. I take three before bed or early in the morning. Don't take 10000mcg. LOL
Also I've never had a problem with acne because as I said biotin needs to be used in combination with proper sleep, water intake and diet. If you neglect those other things you aren't going to see the results you want.
@ImNotTriggered69 This is what I was thinking to purchase
www.inlifehealthcare.com/.../
There are only two types of supplements available (of any brand). 5K mcg & 10K mcg.
Get the 5k but break the tablets in half. Problem solved.
@ImNotTriggered69 Alright. Thanks :)
@ImNotTriggered69 I took natures bounty, I had proper sleep and proper diet and still broke out. But yeah
But yeah he's about right.
Biotin only makes your hair grow longer not thicker. It also helps your nails grow at a faster rate. I tried it.
So, it's worthless for me?
yes, don't waste your time taking it. What you should try is Nioxin 1 shampoo and never use anything else until maybe after 3 years.
I will check it out! :)
Had more problems than benefits with it. Accept that the stress in your life and probably male pattern baldness is the real issue. I first started noticing then a year or two later I got a bald spot starting now
I'd disagree that Biotin doesn't work. I have thick hair and my beard grows much faster when I take biotin in correlation with a high protein diet and recommended water intake. But unfortunately as you said, if you're suffering from male pattern baldness all you can do is accept the hand your dealt and try to own it.
So, what did you do then? And what kind of issues you faced with it?
Thanks :)
You do know on average you lose 50-100 hairs per a day right and that is normal. Your hair is constantly replacing itself so unless you have some sort of medical condition that is causing you to lose hair it's normal.
I know what's normal hair fall. I wish I'd show you pictures. I can clearly notice receding hairline and sudden lack of density.
Then go to a dr or see a specialist about it. I've never heard of an over the counter type thing to take or use on your hair that will actually help it grow, I know for women they say prenatal vitamins help but I have yet to do research and determine if it's the vitamins or the actual pregnancy hormones that cause the reaction. Id def just go talk to your dr about it before wasting your money on pills, creams, shampoos etc that are supposed to help your hair grow because it most likely won't work.
Alright thanks!
I used to be a cosmetologist and tried out a lot of things and they never worked, it's been quite a few years now since but I can't imagine anything has changed. Some people just lose thier hair early on in life, a guy I graduated with was bald within 5 years of graduating high school. Some things are treatable and others aren't, just have to get tested and see if you have something like alopecia or maybe have hormonal imbalance ir maybe even a change in your diet could help just won't know till you talk with a dr and get the necessary testing and whatnot.
I'll see a doctor then. Thanks :)
I recommend biotin and omega-3 supplements. They are pretty cheap, but they were effective for me.
If the problem gets worse, I recommend rogaine. It's a little expensive though.
I tried rogaine. It didn't work. Now my hopes are on biotin. (I already take omega-3 for various reasons).
Hmmm, consult a doctor about it maybe and do plenty of research online about hair loss remedies.
I consulted one. He recommended me minoxidil. It didn't work despite being the most popular remedy. After searching online, I found this thing.
Dunno. I took it last year and it made my face break out like there was no tomorrow. There are other stuff for hair loss that don't mess with your skin. Take iron and zinc supplements.
Oh! Thanks :)
it's expensive and useless my father doing it before and it's just a waste of money
Thanks :)
Its useless dude that shit don't work if it did don't you think that company that makes it would be making billions of dollars with it?
Makes sense. Any recommendation?
How do I tell?
Oh that's confusing. I don't think I'm having a disease.
See a doctor. If u are 21, that's too early for hair loss
I did. He recommended minoxidil which didn't work. Should I go again and tell him that it didn't?
Thanks :)
Try it out for yourself. Personally, I think it's great.
Thanks! :)
what is biotin?
by the way i would suggest you to use fish oil pills.
Biotin is vitamin B7
I take fish oil pills.
Alright thanks :)
Take a look at Dr. Craig Ziering he might help
Alright, thanks :)
Don't do it!
What's the problem? 😦
It's probably a lie and I don't think there is anything wrong with how your hair is falling out. My hair sheds like mad too but it's still extremely thick. :D
Mines extremely thin. Extremely :/
Are you seeing bald spots?
Not bald spots but receding hairline. I think I'll start seeing bald spots too in coming years.
Guess you can try it though I doubt it will work.
Me too, but it's fairly cheap & who knows if it will really work?
i think you should try propecia
Man, that could cause ED. :/
if i was losing hair, id take the ED
It's worth a try.
Thanks :)
Yeah go for it
Thanks for the input :)
