So I went to the gym on Saturday and Sunday, but on Sunday my trainer made me do a new excercise, cause of which my thighs and kind of my knee (good pain) hurts, Monday and Tuesday I didn't go cause I couldn't walk properly and I couldn't even climb the stairs properly. So I didn't want to take a chance for my knees or something, so today shall I go to the gym and just do cardio or no. I am feeling kind of lazy and tired and my stomach is hurting a bit cause my period is going to come, today or tomorrow.

Or shall I go after my period gets over?

Like after two days of my period when all the pain of it is all less
Well you don't have to go to the gym to train, you can stay home and do some yoga. It will help your period and it will help your muscles to recover. It will also be a good way to train. Look up some yoga-lesson from youtube.

If your muscles hurt its good to give them a 24 to 48h rest, but you can still go the gym and train other muscle groups. And yes, cardio is always OK.

do upper body and stretching/recovery even maybe core if your feeling up to it. cardio often still can easily impact on a dodgy knee so stay away from that and you also can easily get stitches in the days before your period.
No excuses, go to the gym.
