What should I do?

So my doctor said i MIGHT have acid reflux and gave me Prilosec to take for it. If i do have acid reflux, its very mild. Im kind of scared to take Prilosec because i dont think i have it, but then again my doctor told me to and i dont want to disobey. If i DONT actually have acid reflux, is taking the prilosec harmful? Will it mess up my stomach?

Prilosec is just as dangerous as any medication you take in your body, wither if its prescribed or over the counter. Your doctor said might, not that you have. Don
't be foolish. You do NOT need to take something you don't feel safe in taking. Go get a 2nd opinion. God forbid you take something that can cause you a serious problem or you God forbid end up dead because you trusted a doctor who isn't sure. That is my suggestion to you. Acid reflex is often caused by high acidity in acidic foods and drinks such as tomatoes, orange juice, soda, etc. Cut out most of those things for a while, and see how that helps you. I get that problem from time to time. Do research on the medication and it's side effects before taking. You don't want to take something that will cause more problems.

Not really. I've taken the OTC stuff for a couple weeks during really stressful times and my stomach is all sorts of upset.

You should regularly make a sport , which will help you to reduce your acid reflux.

No its not and if yiu have reflux, it will damage your esophagus and on a long time scale cause cancer due to irritation.
