Anonymous(36-45)+1 yGirl, listen, yes, it's healthy to want to lose weight and stay fit, but you can't be unreasonable and over dramatic about it. Lots of teenagers are like this becuase they have no proper education about dieting and exercising. If you starve yourself, your body is not going to react well. It will go after your muscles, and you need muscles to BURN calories. That's why they say toning them will help boost your metabolism.

Go to this website https://www.myfitnesspal.com/
Make an account. Input your age, height, etc and it will calculate for you how much you should eat a day. Also EXERCISE. It's important that your body moves. Plus when you exercise, it still burns calories even after the exercise. A little supplemental pill is not going to give you everything the body needs.
I'm not sure if you're this way becuase you want to look good, but you should also worry about what's going on INSIDE your body, because what happens inside will also dictate how you look.
These are some movies you should watch about girls who don't eat.

Asker+1 y@NatashaJ my parents don't allow me to cook and my parents always buy junk food
Asker+1 y@NatashaJ also my parents are never at home and they hardly buy any food and when I ask them they don't buy anything. So please stop calling me a "brat"

Anonymous(25-29)+1 yNOO!! Please stop doing that. It doesn't matter if your parents have bad cooking, you don't like food, or they don't buy you any food. You cannot survive on pills. You need calories. You need vitamins, carbs, fats, sugar, protein... Probably more that I missed. Not getting those things will drastically harm you, especially in the long run.
You may feel fine now, dear, but you will feel like HELL later on if this continues. You won't be able to concentrate at all, causing you to fall behind in school. You can't get your work done and you can't function normally in society. Eating is a necessity. Without it, different parts of your body will shut down one by one. Your brain is one of the first things to be affected, along with your weight. You'll feel very tired and incapable of doing anything, and your mood will change drastically. Have you ever spoken to someone that starves themselves? They can get ANGRY and irritable. My sister is a recovered anorexic and continues to be bulimic, so I would know how miserable she gets...12 Reply
Asker+1 yIs it okay if I just eat a little bit then exercise it off?
Opinion Owner+1 yNo, it's not, because a "little bit" still puts you at a major calorie deficit.
Anonymous(36-45)+1 ythe weight you lost was water and poo. nothing else
Thos pills are designed to help you lose weight, not replace food. Eating trash is better than not eating and taking pills. Infant your parents should confiscate those pills and give your ass a spanking for taking them. Its so dangerous at your age.10 Reply
Your body needs calories and fiber. If you do this for prolonged periods of time (or even intermittently), you will most likely end up in the hospital.
Can you ask your parents to start preparing healthier meals?12 Reply

You should eat and work out if you feel the need to lose weight.
If you keep doing what you're doing, odds are you will regret in the future.12 Reply
Asker+1 yWhat''s the risk of continuing this?
Opinion Owner+1 yPlease, just listen to me. It's not healthy and it won't amount to anything good.
I will mention some of the risks of continuing this: constipation, low blood pressure, vomiting, nausea, sore-throat, depression, mood changes, malnutrition, energy loss (you will constantly feel tired), muscle loss, constant headaches, ineffectiveness to complete simple tasks, slow metabolic rate.
In severe cases it can even cause seizures, heart-attacks and even death.
Stop doing this. Eat healthy instead.
+1 yYou know that isn't healthy. Supplement pills aren't to supplement for food it's to supplement minerals and vitamins that your body otherwise struggles to intake. Ask your parents if they would try cooking something more healthier, plan a weeks worth of food for your family. If not it's healttlhier for you to eat what they're cooking rather than doing that, it's just a fast train to anorexia town and it's a loooooooong journey back from there.
10 ReplyIf this serious? Of course is not healthy, you need protein and fats and carbs in you diet, you need vitamins, some of which can only be found in veggies, you need essential amino acids, dear god, eat, if you dont like what your parents cook, buy food somewhere else, but eat.
10 Reply590 opinions shared on Health & Fitness topic. Replacing meals with supplements is never good for you. You don't even get the right nutrients in supplements as you would with food. Water is gone, you need water, but you just can't substitute solid foods for supplements. Learn how to cook

Asker+1 yI know, I know how to cook eggs but if I eat eggs everyday it gets tiring. and then I use to only eat salad, but eating salad, breakfest lunch and dinner everyday is also tiring
Asker+1 ythen I started to hate food
Asker+1 yI do eat a lot of fruits, but we only have bananas at my house. My parents are hardly home and they never cook nor buy any food, they only buy food once a week, and I usually finish all of it in 2 days. And they hardly buy anything. This is litterly what they buy every week: Eggs, meat (I don't know how to cook it, and I hate meat), bread, oranges (I finish in like an hour), bananas (I don't like them but I sometimes eat it). And that's it, no veggies at all :( Although I'm okay with every single veggies except for celerie. So I'm stuck at home with a pack of supplements
1.4K opinions shared on Health & Fitness topic. Yeah it is definitely not healthy to do so. Eat something! Banana + Peanut butter, make a sandwich if you have no other options. You will destroy your body with pills and they won't have enough calories.

Asker+1 yWhy?
- +1 y
Your body needs carbs, fat, and protein in order to carry on daily functions. Your brain uses these in order to work, your muscles use these, pretty much every cell in your body depends on the real molecules in food. Supplements are meant for if you need an extra boost of something, not a replacement. May I ask what pills you are taking?
@redeyemindtricks I don't know where to begin. I think I'm on a tagging trend with you lol

@asker I do not believe this is healthy for multiple reasons. 1 - I don't know if you're getting enough calories to function well. 2- You are most likely not getting all of the nutrition you need 3- If you don't eat often enough (this happens with me) your blood sugar crashes and you get all whoozy and sweaty and icky.
There are most likely other reasons but those are the ones I can think of off my head. Maybe try cooking for yourself? Some things are easy to cook, quick. tasty, and healthy!
Asker+1 yI feel whoozy, groggy and icky right now :, D
Asker+1 yBut my brain is still working well, I manage to memorize some stuff I'm doing for the next school year. I want to memorize all my classmates names. :)
Asker+1 yI do though. I hardly have any food at home and my parents never buy food nor cook food nor come home :( So it's like I own the house
Asker+1 yI do, I keep on asking them
Asker+1 yI hate them, I keep on asking them to buy me food and they never do.
Asker+1 yIf you take a look at my fridge you will realize how empty it is
- +1 y
hmm...
Well, if you look at the word "supplement", you can discern the answer to this question. Supplements are meant to be... well, *supplemental*.
If you try to construct a diet totally from supplements, you'll almost certainly be deficient in tons of different micronutrients (vitamins and minerals). And, you are very likely to overeat, because most supplements do a very poor job of promoting "fullness" or controlling appetite.
Also --
In the US, dietary supplements aren't very closely regulated. (Google around a little bit about how loosely regulated "dietary supplements" are, as opposed to "pharmaceuticals" which are VERY tightly regulated.) So... there's really no guarantee that you are even getting what it says on the label.
Sure, some of the companies have reputations to protect, but, the stuff from the reputable companies is going to cost WAY more than... just buying healthful food.
Asker+1 y@redeyemindtricks thank you for the help! :) But can I just like cut off my meals by half. And then take the pills? For example if I don't like the food my parents make. I can eat one piece of bread than take the supplements?
- +1 y
oh, you're talking about "supplements" that are PILLS? ahh dear sweet lord no, that's a terrible idea... you need nutrition that's actually nutrition!
I thought you were at least talking about powdered/liquid "meal replacement" supplements... If you're talking about things that don't even have calories, then, honestly I hope I don't have to explain why that's an awful idea.
__
At this point, I'm also worried that there's an eating disorder here.
If that's the case, PLEASE talk to someone (mb a school nurse or counselor), before you try to do anything that's going to cause long-lasting damage to yr body. - +1 y
@redeyemindtricks Yeah, it sounds like Anorexia :(
Asker+1 y@redeyemindtricks i do eat a little bit, let's say breakfest would be a banana and lunch be another banana and dinner would be a piece of bread though. But I run 2 hours in the morning and 2 hours after dinner once every other day. And on the other days I would just walk for 4 hours. Although it makes my legs really tired. But I still feel fat
- +1 y
Yeah, I think you should definitely have a word with one of the counselors at yr school...
Even world-class marathon runners don't run for 4 hours a day! (And, world-class marathon runners -- when they're not running -- basically eat *non-stop*. They eat literally several times as much food as the average person.)
I don't think I asked yet, but... Why don't yr parents keep the kitchen stocked?
Asker+1 y@redeyemindtricks They are busy. My legs are always really exhausted though... :(
- +1 y
Yr legs are trying to tell you something babe. You should listen to them... Please.
Asker+1 y@redeyemindtricks Thanks for your concern! :) The only problem is that a lot of times when I don't exercise I feel really anxious like I'm going to gain weight.
- +1 y
Yeah, that's a sadly common situation -- and it's the reason why these kinds of eating disorders are so intractable. A lot of AN (AN = anorexia nervosa) patients are so deep into body dysmorphia that they simply *won't* eat normally again until they literally suffer a near-death experience (like organ failure once their BMI dips below 12 or 13)... and not even then.
Many women with AN are so stubborn about it that they die, because the kind of feeling you're describing runs so strong and so deep that they ignore *everything* their bodies are trying to tell them.
Really... Please go talk to someone at yr school. You won't be the first girl they've seen with these kinds of thoughts, and you won't be the last. Yr school will definitely have counselors who are specifically trained to talk through these things with you -- and who will be able to give you meaningful advice that I can't. (I can tell you about the medical consequences of AN, and I can *empathize* with you here -- but, - +1 y
truthfully, I can't speak much to what's going on inside yr head, having never been there myself.)
You should also think about WHY you have the goals that you have. With whom do you feel you're in competition?
Are you competing with other girls?
Are you competing with yourself?
Have people made mean/bullying comments that you took to heart, and now you're going off the deep end the other way in response? (I've seen *this* happen -- someone gets called fatty/chubby/flabby once or twice, and that's what starts it... and then it grows and grows and grows.)
If it's that last one, then... you might want to stop and think about whether you want to give that kind of shitty person so much control over yr life and yr body -- because that's *exactly* what you'd be doing here, in that case. You'd be letting THAT shithead of a person control how you're treating yr own body (and mind).
If it's not that sort of situation -- like, if the motivation really does come from within - +1 y
yrself -- then please sit down and try to think it through, and see whether you can figure out the origins of this whole thought process. There's usually *something* you can pin down, if you can think about it hard enough (and if you can be honest with yourself about the things that impact you -- this could be painful). Once you've identified that, you'll have a lot of things to talk about with a professional who's dealt with girls in the same situation before.
There's a lot of life out there to live. Yr legs want to... live that life. You should listen to them. <3
Asker+1 y@redeyemindtricks The only problem is, when people think of people who exercise a lot and eat little, they think they are super skinny, but I'm actually fat.
- +1 y
Well, you said (upthread a bit) that you pretty much permanently *feel* fat, so, do you think you're giving yrself a fair assessment?
Like... **being brutally honest with yrself here** do you think there's actually a point where you would consider yrself NOT fat? If so, what would that point be?
Again -- please go talk to one of the counselors... even if you don't think of it as a "getting help" session. Just approach it as "I need to talk to someone who *knows* about this sort of thing, and who understands what's going on inside my head".
There's this corny old saying, that when you change "I" to "we", illness turns into wellness. (: I KNOW I KNOW, it's so fucking corny... but it's *totally* true. If you can find someone you TRUST, with whom to share yr thoughts here... It will help.
Alone is the worst sort of way to deal with this.
I mean... you are, after all, reaching out to a bunch of random anons on the internet -- so, some part of you *definitely* wants to talk to - +1 y
someone about this. So, please, talk to one of the school counselors.
- +1 y
@asker I'll bet you $500 that you aren't fat. Take me for example. I've had eating disorders all through high school, comparing myself to itty bitty skinny girls and tall girls. But I also liked thicker, chubbier and fat girls.
I found beauty in all of them but I couldn't find any in myself even though I was constantly hit on. Even when I was heavier (5ft 170ish) I still was hit on. But I always felt like a beach whale. I refused to sit in any of my bfs laps because I thought I would break them and even after losing weight I felt this way. Even now I would say I'm chubby when even my doctors laughs at me when I say that. I can help you if you'd like :)
Asker+1 yThanks though! Wait your 5ft and your 170 pounds? Or did I read that wrong. Anyways. My goal is to just lose 30 pounds before December 2016 and lose 60 pounds from now till the end of 2017
- +1 y
I was 5ft 170. I'm now 5ft 140 and my weight is fine. I could lose maybe 5 lbs of fat but I don't know I don't care. My frame is rather wide and I'm really muscular which is why the weight is a tad bit high. Honestly I don't look that different than I did at 170. But I actually went down to 120 and was too thin so after eating normally and exercising, I climbed back up to 140 and my body is happy here
Asker+1 yNice! :)
Dude it will cause some issues eventually like your not using your teeth and that will cause issues. Your not eating what you should be eating. That will cause issue you remind me of a documentary where this little girl when she put food in her mouth she hold it in for hours. Refuse to eat it and that caused issues in her family. Personally I think there some physiological issues with you and you need to get that dealt with.

Just eat every day. Why do you hate eating? You mag have a problem otherwise. I've never meat anyone who hates eating. It sounds like a teen who is forcing herself to believe she hates to eat to look good and trim in high school.
Asker+1 yI just eat the same thing ever single day :, D And I also want to lose weight so yeah. Everything I know how to cook will make me fat. Like eggs will make me fat. And I do eat salad, but that's it and when you eat it 24/7 you will start to hate it
Asker+1 yAlso it takes too much time to eat, supplements is just like 10s done

Eggs will not make you fat. Eating too much sugar carbs will make you too fat and eating too many calories. I recommend you use Google and find fast healthy recipes. Eat whole food. Chicken breast and stuff like that. Veggies and a dip would be a good snack.
