Is my lip infected?

I got spider bite piercings done jun 26th and I treated it well everyday as I was told to use mouthwash (alcohol free) and brush my teeth but try not to touch it a lot. It was never swollen or oozing anything except a little after it wasn't major just a little drop was all but it stopped. My stud fell out and I went to get a new one but I was trying to unscrew it and i couldn't but I finally did. It was swollen and bleeding so i looked it up and a bunch of people said not to take it out if its infected so I left it in. It's just swollen its not bleeding anymore and im about to but ice on it. Can anyone tell me if its infected or not?

I would put the ice on it and see how it is within the next few days. It could just be irritated from the stud falling out and you trying to replace it. If it's still swollen or starts bleeding again after three days or so, I might set up a doctor's appointment just in case.

It sounds like you just aggravated it when changing jewelry. There's no yellow discharge or heat coming from it correct?

Nope just swelling.

Then I wouldn't be too worried. Take some ibuprofen to help with pain and swelling and just keep doing what your piercer advised. And don't play with them! I know that's the hardest part~

Probably not infected, just irritated. Keep an eye on it for the next few days and if the swelling doesn't go down or if it starts to ooze, then make an appointment.

If there is an infection, take it out, clean with a desinfactant and go to the doctor if its severe.
