    I never had it done.
It is supposed to be painful, even with medication. If you can, see if they can put you under.

    That said?
    Do it!!

When I was 18, I had perfect teeth. A dentist with my X ray even commented that he had never seen teeth so straight, naturally. But I had all 4 wisdom teeth, and no room for them to come in. So all at an angle. And he asked if I wanted to schedule surgery. He told me that not everyone with wisdom teeth has them come in, and many people, they stay in the jaw, and never erupt.
I was scared of surgery, so I rolled the dice, hoped that would be me, and declined.

Years later, several molars are damaged, because the wisdom teeth tried to come in, and jammed my teeth together, leading to cracks and breaking. I don't just need surgery to get rid of the wisdom teeth, I need it to fix other parts of my mouth. And I am in pain. Not excessive pain, but IB Profin is like candy to me, because it is one of the only over the counter legal pain meds that even touches tooth pain.

As bad as the surgery is? It must be better than what I live with now.

I had mine out several years ago. They gave me some pills leading up to the surgery that help prevent swelling. Then they put me under local anesthesia so I was barely conscious here and there. I don't remember much of it and I didn't feel any pain. They give you gauze stuff to put in your mouth to clot the bleeding that have to be replaced until it heals up. Took me like 3-5 hours. I was eating solid food the day after but it's different for everyone. Some people have more swelling but I happened to get lucky and didn't have much. It could be due to the steroid pills that prevent swelling leading up to my surgery. Every dentist surgeon dude does it differently.

I was born without wisdom teeth. I did have surgery to remove a baby tooth. My dentist advised me to get surgery because that was my only baby tooth and it's surrounded by adult teeth and it was getting eroded by the adult teeth. Basically it never fell out and it has no adult tooth to replace it. Surgery was quick and painless. A few hours later, I felt perfectly fine like I never had the surgery.

Yes. Had them taken out at 15.
Wasn't bad. Just kept them iced 24/7 and it kept the swelling down.
I threw up after I got home because the car ride and the anesthesia waring off didn't mix well for me. haha But that was the worst of it all.

I have, fortunately i had an awesome dentist. I got four of them pulled at the same time. He numbed me up well and gave me really good pain killers. I slept for a day or two after the surgery. As far for the pain, i was lucky that i didn't feel that much pain. The weird part was feeling the holes in my gums with my tongue, but after the gums healed up the holes closed up and no pain after that. I hope you have the same experience that i had when you get yours pulled :)

I had all four removed when I was a teen, they hadn't started to come in yet. They knocked me out completely to take them out. Woke up some time later completely drugged with stitches in my mouth.

Slept for the rest of the day, only woke up long enough for my mom to change my gauze in my mouth and give me pain meds.

The next several weeks sucked monkey balls though as I couldn't eat anything hard as I couldn't chew without major pain and worry of popping the stitches.

    Yes.

I had impacted and grown in teeth, so I had a mix of the two types. The impacted teeth required me to be knocked out. Those were actually the best ones to deal with after as the stitches closed everything up. The ones that were grown in left a huge hole and I had to be careful what I ate or drank to not disturb the scab "plug" that formed in the old socket.

Pain wise, it was cake. They told me to eat soft/liquid foods for a few days, but i went home and had a steak.

You won't feel much during the removal, you will taste your blood for a while, little sore for few days. Not any food you will be allowd to eat (it's for the best)
After you are done! don't chew on your own skin, lip or what ever you think it is you are chewing on. 5-6 days, all good in the hood after that

no stitches afterwards , He only gave me Novocaine nothing else
but i took it like a man i was only age 19 at time so it has been
    almost 30 years ago.

You end up with a couple of painful gaps at the side of your mouth with bleeding for a short time but they give you something for it. At the end of the day you have to have them out , you can't have jagged edges hitting your gums all the time it's not so bad if anaethatised

Not great fun. I remember them giving me a strong dose of something and hooking me up to a heart monitor before the operation, then suddenly I was done. I was not delirious or out of it though, I recovered to my right mind within 20 minutes or so. The pain was unpleasant but not too bad and my back gums were stitched with a degradable thread that dissolved over time. The painkillers they gave me were good.

I did. All four of them.
It wasn't bad to have them removed, but it felt gross when you feel them sewing it all up, and you see those threads going out like in a straight up horror movie.

It doesn't hurt though. Also your cheek swells up like crazy so you can barely eat anymore. So I suggest removing one side at a time. And you keep ice against your cheek 24/7, the day after you got them removed

Nah but my friend did, she couldn't eat properly for days, was all hopped up on drugs and she looked like a literal chipmunk that's how swollen her cheeks were. The bruises lasted a while too.

it was scary. but it was so simple, it didn't hurt, even after. even tho like any wound in the mouth it hurt only a little after the procaine wore off like after loosing a tooth in your youth.

Uncomfortable (due to swelling) in the first 24 hours, than better. After a day or 5, totally forgotten :D
In my case, they removed all 4 at once under general anesthetic.

    yeah I got one removed.
got a syringe, waited a bit then he tried to pull it out... had to use both hands so difficult was it lol. Took a couple of minutes... not the most comfortable thing but it didn't hurt so it was okay

Yes. They put me under so felt nothing. I didn't feel any pain afterwards either because they did such a good job.
They prescribed me some pain killers but I never used them. Gave them to someone who needed them more.

Apparently mine have never caused a problem because the words "wisdom teeth" have never been uttered to me by any dentist I've had.

Yeah, it actually didn't hurt that much. The worst part was having to taste blood and not being able to eat hard foods.
