Surgery on Wednesday, help?

So I am having my tonsils removed on Wednesday and I am actually pretty paranoid about it. I think I completely ruined it for myself by watching so many Youtube videos.
Anyone here had their tonsils taken out as an adult?
I've been told by my doctor and others than it takes a little longer to heal as an adult.
Any suggestions?
How long did it take before you felt a little "normal"?
Talk okay?
Eat or drink?
Pain level?

Well 27 is really old for having tonsils taken out. I had mine taken out at 14. It was VERY painful! I used a pen and notepad the first 4 or 5 days instead of trying to speak. Eating was the worst. Even soup, which was the most solid of foods i ate was excruciating. With that said, perhaps the procedure has most likely improved in years so maybe it won't be so bad.

Oh it is, I never really thought that it would matter taking them out since I didn't really get sick as a kid. BUT it's catching up to me and have been getting sick like crazy!

I had my tonsils removed when I was in middle school. it took a couple weeks before I could eat solid comfortably.

Don't worry, its only small surgery. Drink is quickly and eating cold stuff (like ice cream) helps reducing pain in the beginning.
