He only snores when I'm in the bed?

We basically live in a studio apartment, so I'm in the room with him when he goes to sleep. The second I climb into the bed, he starts snoring!
I don't go to bed at the same time, so it's not like a certain time of the night. I don't always have the TV on, so it's not a change in sounds, he doesn't snore if he falls asleep in the chair, and he lays all over that thing like a damned cat in all sorts of positions!
Sometimes, he'll kinda start to snore, but it's while he's shifting so it stops almost immediately. He still kicks around in his sleep if I'm in the bed, so it's not like I'm keeping him still. And he'll start snoring, but then it will stop randomly when he hasn't moved at all, and he's still breathing, I know because I've watched him in frustration!

Assuming you can't get him to hit the gym, you might want to get an extra firm mattress. The snoring might be caused from the mattress shift that occurs when you get into bed. When you get into bed, the mattress will compress and slant towards you and this is what might be moving him into a position where he snores. A firmer mattress will reduce these shifts.

It's a very firm mattress less than a year old.

Also, he's not at all fat, he's is very great physical shape. His job is tree removal, and it keeps him very toned.
