My girlfriend wants to learn boxing?

my girlfriend who lives an hour away from me wants me to show her how to box but she has a brain injury would that bebe a obstinate or problem?/ and also she only wants me to teach her no other person

Get a note from her neurologist saying it's ok for her to take up any kind of contact sport, especially boxing. Depending on the kind of brain injury in might be ok but I doubt it. Extreme caution required. Note that head gear does nothing to prevent brain contusions. They only help with skull fractures. Concussions and popped blood vessels are still risks.

I don't think it's a very good idea given how punches are aimed primarily towards the head. Go ask a doctor first, preferably a neurologist.

That shouldn't be a problem providing she doesn't do it competitively, plus its you who is teaching her so you will know to avoid her head. Anyway you guys could sign up for thai kick boxing classes perhaps? A better alternative

yes that's what I told her but she said for me to do it personally because she doesn't want to be overwhelmed and also if she goes into a gym we need to do it together because she will hate it going by herself

Aww haha that's adorable :) It is probably better if you do it with her, girls can feel out of place when they do a male-dominant sport... especially when its an all boys boxing class, speaking from experience!

yes I will do it with her and I love being near my girlfriend even though she feels weird whenever I'm near her but probably it's because she's not used to being with me at all

Maybe its best to let her heal. When she is well enough you can commence with the training. Too many things at once can overwhelm her body and mind.

well we both made a deal on training each other into doing boxing and we both had the idea because she became interested

@Asker, I understand and I am not against that but when a person is sick their bodies and minds are going through a lot of different changes and process. If you add anything to that then it can be a burden. It might be too much at once or too soon.

yes I understand but her physical problems aren't new she was born with this brain injury due to negligence of her caregiver and I will be patient with her when doing boxing training and I even bought the gloves and everything

Assuming she's Ikay with heart rate I'd suggest you do shadowboxing and padwork. Don't hit her head. At all.

yes that's how I'll start boxing training just with padwork and shadow boxing as a start then do punches to her stomach but not so hard and a little of sparring

Even with? You're not a licensed boxing gym. You don't have insurance.

You lightly hit her and she goes into a coma, you're legally and financially responsible not to mention i assume heartbroken.

tons of people learn the skills and don't spar.
