New Zealand's first transgender weightlifter Laurel Hubbard will be competing soon at the Commonwealth Games. Ms Hubbard is first transgender athlete to represent New Zealand at international level and she will compete in the over-90kgs category.

She competed at national level as a man before transitioning in her mid-30s, and complies with all physical conditions put in place by the International Olympic committee.

I don't mind either way. I think it's ridiculous, they have a big advantage because f their bone structure and the fact that males naturally have more strength pound fo pound. In most sports where transgender women compete they beat biological females for this reason, anybody who thinks that they don't have an advantage doesn't know what they're talking about.

On the other hand it's mostly feminist types who want to encourage this. These are the same people who want us to pretend that men and women are the same and think it's sexist if you say that women are less physically capable in comparison to men especially when it comes to jobs that require physical strength. The more this happens the more they look like idiots.

"Transwomen" are physically men. Period. No matter how they see themselves, they're men. Cutting your dick and taking a female name doesn't change what you biologically are. They should compete with men, or not compete at all.

I have full respect for transgendered people but the entire REASON most athletic competitions are split between male and female is because of simple biological differences in strength. Therefore, in order to be athletically fair competition, this athlete should compete in whatever category her stage of transformation is at - if her body is still at its original stage, then she could compete in the men's category, simply because that is what her biological makeup is. If she has gone through enough physical transformation to constitute her physical makeup as female, then she should compete in the female competition.

She transitioned late. Her muscle structure and strength is that if a male as is her training standards. If she transitioned early OR was new to the sport, I could see competing with females. But many weight lifters take steroids and testosterone to beef up. Some recent female hormones therapy will not counteract the years of previous use.

Don't think it has a yes or no, so on one hand yes, my best friend is trans, knew her as a male for years and both then and now she's been small, slim, lower muscle tone naturally, she has always matched more to the size of a female so it seems fair, but say I started transitioning, that shit would be plain unfair, I'm abit above average height, naturally toned muscle, I'm just plain bigger than most females and hence have somewhat of an advantage, human rights wise it seems obvious they should compete with females, but in a way it kinda feels like letting certain people enhance there body, if I was a female athlete id be OK with it, my thought being if she is bigger and stronger than me its a chance to be more dedicated to reach a new level of skill to keep up

There is a reason men don't comprar against men in most sports.. we overwhelmingly are more aggressive, stronger, faster and more agile. I don't care how low that guys testosterone he should not be permitted to comprar against women.. it's wrong and places him with an unfair advantage. This is the problem with PC culture.. I'm all for equality and have no problem with people choosing to go trans, but I think letting transwomen competing against women in sports that are in categorical terms "women-only" kind of skews stats and complicates things because they're not 100% the same as a full-on female, but they aren't a full-on male either.

Make a different category that's "women and transwomen mixed" or something and then it'd make more sense. Or even "transwomen only". Just make sure the title/category matches the game, y'know.

No. Body composition and build is still of a male. Male's have tougher builds and wider frames in general. Talk about unfairness or whatever, that's the truth. Just because you change your genital and your sort of look to who you believe is the right version of you doesn't change your original body or who you are born as. It doesn't change genetics.
