What is your favorite sport and why?
and say what makes it so interesting to you
Softball :) I play in college. The softball field is where I'm most comfortable. I've been playing since I was 7 years old, so I've really come to love it. It is definitely a sport that takes skill and a certain amount of fearlessness. It takes a lot of courage to stand in a little box and let people throw balls at you or to scatter yourself around a playing field and let the hitters jack balls at you knowing full well the potential of getting hit in the face is extremely high...especially if you don't do it right. It is also such a big game of failure, so much so that errors have their own box on the scoreboard lol. Softball/baseball really challenges your ability to recover after a defeat. It also tests your pain tolerance because I can tell you firsthand that getting hit by one of those little yellow things hurts like hell!
I am a huge fan of guys basketball. Its pretty amazing the skill it takes to play the sport. Its (no offense) not like american football where you can be just good at defense and nothing else, or like soccer where you could just be really good at being a goalie. In basketball, you HAVE to be good at everything, otherwise you don't play. You have to shoot, dribble, pass, defend, and be really good at it. Its also probably one of the most entertaining sports to watch. Like when a guy makes a great steal, dribbles down the court and ends it with a sick dunk...theres no way you can't like that. But...thats just my opinion =]
lol that you think football is called soccer,
lol that you think it takes more skill than football
basketball I meant. foot control is a lot harder than hand control.
Cricket, it gives exercise to all parts of your body, needs lots of skill and for spectators its very interesting since you can not predict the result of the till the last ball :) please watch the ongoing world cup.
I like to play more than watch it, however, if the teams are great and players are performing exceptionally well I love to watch it.
to play, martial arts, to watch star craft 2
mma? wow you watching ufc127 tomorow? who you got for the W? you just went up in my estimation gregs. +1 anyways.
stop being gay. are you watching ufc or not?
its in australia for the second time. its really interesting to me.

My favorite sport is fencing. I find it fascinating to watch and I was in the best shape of my life when I participated in it. I had such a good sense of my body that I've really lost since then.
And hey, nothing makes for better stress relief than stabbing someone!
ias refering to the first part obviously! not the vicious beatdown that followed:P
Other: MMA.
MMA is a test of skill, strength, strategy, discipline, work ethic, and will. There are many types of fighting [ju jitsu, kick boxing, tae kwon do, Gracie jitsu, wrestling, etc] and it's a universal sport. Fights are unpredictable, fun, and a chance to showcase your skills. Unlike other sports, you have to live, eat, and breathe MMA to be very successful. You have to be healthy and be the best you can possibly be.
ha ha named after tank abbott? lulz!
mma is my second favorite sport lol. I'm watching tomorow. I was sad fedor just lost in strikeforce but he is a great fighter no matter what.
cant wait to see shogun v jones. :P
you're kinda awesome for saying that.
fedor
cain
shogun
sakuraba
phil davis
bj penn
edgar
silva altho I hate him
respect to gsp as well
wow good names but there's a few people missing on your list lol
I like Shogun. Frankie Edgar is okay, and BJ Penn can lay it down but I think he is too cocky and ungrateful to be where he is. Other men train 10x harder. GSP I like and respect. He's good and composed [if I were him, I would have punched Koscheck in the face multiple times].
I like a lot of other men too, but my list was getting long :P
Fedor's good and I know who he is. People are always arguing over who is the best pound for pound fighter; wasn't Silva shown to be statistically the best? We can debate otherwise forever, but I think statistics show it all. I'm too lazy to look them up, though. I wish Silva would end his career instead, haha. Rogan changes his mind all the time; he will practically say anyone is awesome or that several people are the best pound for pound fighters.
honestly there are no statistics for p4p. its a subjective thing.
statisticaly fedor has spent his career beating people (30 fights/ten years unbeaten ) that are much bigger than him.
silva has spent his career cutting weight and fighting (and losing in his peak) people that are smaller than him in a weak division.
what I said is polemical but also true.
they are both greats and along with gsp, form pretty much everyones three best.
I meant comparing their records, but any losses on Silva's part would marr his record against a clean slate like Fedor's. I know for a while people were hyping up Machida because he had the highest hit contact percent, and the lowest received hits as a whole. Now he appears to be off the radar. I like GSP better anyhow :)
machida was overhyped.
his stats where the fruit of his style. point fighting is not to be dismissed, but when he got ktfo by shogun (in prime) after being fought to a rematch it, and lost to rampage, it kinda screwed up his LHW goat argument.
tell me, who do you have for tomorow
Chris Camozzi vs. Kyle Noke
Chris Lytle vs. Brian Ebersole
George Sotiropoulos vs. Dennis Siver
Michael Bisping vs. Jorge Rivera
B.J. Penn vs. Jon Fitch
That's because Shogun kicks ass! I dislike Rampage though, so I'll keep that comment to myself, lol.
Pretty even, but I'll say Camozzi.
I'd prefer Lytle wins.
Sotiropulous. Better record, he's faster imo.
Bisping for sure I hope wins.
BJ isn't bad, but considering Fitch's record [and because I hate Penn], I hope Fitch wins.
wow crazy night,
no one saw lytle losing.
Since you mentioned "American football", I'm guessing A is soccer, which is my favorite sport. I love it because not only have I been playing since I was four, but it's fun. My mom signed me up to different recreational classes [ ballet, gymnastics, etc. ] and apparently I wasn't interested in them. So she tried soccer and the rest is history.
no lol. football named football
and american football is named american football
this is the world wide web.
not a local sports channel somewhere in the planet
indigenous terms don't really matter here
glad you like football tho :P
"Indigenous terms" do matter since we all live in different parts of the world...
no they dont.
this is the world wide web
the indigenous term for american football is incorrect
it is called american football
the fact americans call it football does nothing to change this
football is called football, not ''british football'' or soccer as it is the original and most popular
the world plays football not american football
originality and popularity trumps american localism on the www
Yes, I'm aware of what other countries call it, but since I am from the US and your poll has the options "football" and "American football", I only assumed you meant soccer for "football." That was just a clarification...I'm not trying to correct your poll or anything.
no. not other countries. the planet.
its the www not the aww.
lol
why ever would you assume different
lulz
its not called soccer lol!
ha ha you americans. you really do amuse me.
i tried you're little regional veriation recently.
i picked green bay. they won. it was cool.
its not footbal but its ohhh k. lol :P
good to know.
hey ...im not a hater. it was a good little game. :P
I don't play sports. I'm more of a dance and martial art kind of girl.
The only sport I like watching is baseball, and even then only if I'm at the game. Watching sports on TV bores me. I'm not sure why I like baseball more than other sports, but something about being in Fenway Park and cheering on my Red Sox is lots of fun.
whos your money on tomorow
I don't follow sports, either. I don't keep track of scores or who's ahead or anything like that. I just make a point of going to one Sox v. Yankees game at Fenway every year.
wow ufc is great man. you should get into it.
Women's volleyball.
link
haha
stars. you gimme joke girl. :P
the best ever link in GAG. by thew way is it you in the picture? :)
Hockey's the only one that can really keep me interested. It's pretty intense, and not to mention they do everything while on ice skates. That's skill.
yeh I would have included it along with the fight sports, but its hard leave off the 3 major american ones and obviously football and other need sections.
*polls only have 5 options
Football = soccer right?! I love soccer, and I can't even explain why I like it so much, I guess it's because it's part of the culture of my country. xD
ha ha no. football = football. american football = amercan football. he he
theres no such thing as soccer but OK. your not a yank so il allow that on a technicality.
College girls baseball,
I'm just amazed how the girls can hit a ball with less time to react then a major league player.
I also get a kick out of how far some of these girls can hit the ball.
After that it's hockey. Coolest game on ice!
basketball: I've played varsity bball at my high school for the past three years and I LOVE it (: also, I live in chicago, so DROSE and the BULLS all the way (: its hard to not get absolutely psyched for a game haha.
soccer: I love playing the sport (varsity for past 2 years), but I don't like watching it unless its the world cup haha
martial arts are cool- I have a black belt in taekowndo
but I have to say basketball beats all. because its fun to play and watch.
Swimming :) I've started to get training at the age of 3 and I absolutely love it! It builds good muscles and it takes away any stress that you have. Swimming is the best stress-reliever you can experience.
American football. It was something I grew up watching and cheering for, and I love the amount of contact, and I understand the strategies better than any other sport.
Swimming. Because I like anything related with sea. And I do enjoy swimming.
My fav sport is actually ultimate frisbee, which may seem boring. I like it because it's a tactical game that involves constant running.
Cricket, it my fav sport to play, Love to watch tennis (women)
Curling the way they sweep those broom things... Just gets me so hot
I like the way they yell "HARD! HARD! FAST!"
luls at stars.
i voted american football, because I like to watch it, but I should have voted other, because gymnastics is my favorite sport
Decisions decisions... I like basketball. :D
