Hey I need gamers opinions?

I am going to be getting a game station soon and am torn between the PS 3 and the Xbox 360 with the kinect. I have always been a PS fan and I have 3 PS3 games now and all my other games are PS2 games. I know the new generation PS3 does not play the PS2 games anymore. I only have one Xbox 360 game.

I played the kinect and I liked it but I have a feeling the kinect will be one of those system accessories that will only play sports and mini games and will never play larger games like assassins creed, tomb raider or any game like that. I also have a feeling it will only be a matter of time before Soney come out with something just like the kinect for the PS3 and I mean something different from the move.

Anyway ill mainly be using it to play netflix and play games. I don't do any online games, I have heard that to play the netflix on Xbox 360 you have to pay a yearly fee but to play it on PS3 its no charge.

So what do you think which one should I get and why?

Please keep in mind I do not like online games like call of duty or halo I have tryed them and they are not for me.

Thanks everyone I think I will go with the PS3 seems to me from researching it and the answers on here the xbox was made with online shooters in mind so I will go with the PS3 Thanks.

Well if you are not playing online then that eliminates a lot of the questions. Netflix will be the same on either console, I have an xbox and my roommate has PS3 and it is pretty much the same on either system. You were talking about the kinect, are you going to get one? Are you into the whole motion control thing, I know the PS3 has that Wii remote looking controller now. But if you are not into those types of games much then I wouldn't let that be a deciding factor. So that leaves the games. Most 3rd party games (games not made by Microsoft, or Sony) will be available on both systems. So that leaves the first party games, I don't know the PS ones but for Microsoft it would be like, Halo, Gears of War, etc. So that would probably be the biggest difference in games. The PS3 also has blu-ray if that interests you at all. Other than that they do pretty much the same thing, it's sort of just a personal choice. Personally I have a 360 and I've been fairly happy with it. I like the controller much better than the PS ones. Another thing to note is that the 360 has been out longer than the PS3 so there will be more used games/ cheaer games available, if you are going to be buying a lot of games.

Well if those kinds of games aren't your thing then I would look for some games that you do like and see what system they are on. Like I said they both do the exact same things, it's really just a personal preference.

Well that answered a lot thanks :) Yeah I love the ones put out by sony like heavenly sword (its one of the 3 PS3 games I have) I personly hate the games like COD and halo. There just boring to me. And I don't do the social talking to other people thing lol I don't even have a facebook or myspace. Thanks so much for the advice. I didn't realize xbox seems to specialize in online games. Yes I like the kinect but I don't see them being able to make games like tomb raider on it or assassins creed on it. :)

I wouldn't say the Xbox is any more specialized to online than the PS3. But ya the whole kinect thing is sort of a gimmick to get some of the Wii fans to switch over. I'd go check on gamespot for some games on both systems to help you compare.

Kinect is not a gimmick, neither the ps3's move, they are both just for casual gamers. Like your grandmother ahahhaha...

I've never owned either one, but I live with a guy who has a 360, and he's pretty discontent with it. There's apparently been this update that's screwed over the system for a few games, and Microsoft isn't doing anything about it. He says he'll go for a ps3 if this doesn't get sorted out. I'm pretty sure you're correct about all the stuff to do with kinect, it's just going to be for some lameass dancing/sports games, nothing interesting or of noteworthy visuals. Another thing to keep in mind is that there will be some games for the 360 that won't have been ported to ps3, so you'll have to go without. So, all in all I'd suggest the ps3, though as far as I know the majority of interesting games are for the 360, I've really only seen a lot of sports games for the ps3. Though bare in mind that I'm not that big of an authority on it, so take what I have to say about it with a bit of a grain of salt.

I've been really happy with my PS3. I mostly use it for netflicks myself (too much homework to get sucked into a game right now). Blue ray looks amazing if you have the HD screen. The game selection is a bit limited though. (But I'm not into first person shooters and there are a lot of those out there right now)

The move actually tracks movement more accurately then the kinect. I doubt playstation will go that direction. Its just to limited.

Major downside though. The PS3 requires you to update your software to use internet functions every time they put out a new update.

P.S. That whole internet thing effects Netflicks. I normally have 10 min of waiting for an update every other month or so.

Netflix is a service you pay for no matter what system you choose. However, for the 360, you have to be a gold member as well, so you have to pay the yearly few for XboxLive gold (well worth it imo).

I play 360, but that's because I prefer the games and I hate the PS3's controller.

Just choose whichever one you prefer to play on. Kinect and move and all that nonsense is likely just a fad anyway. It's not nearly advanaced enough to be worked into any more complex titles any time soon (at least not in a fully immersive sense).

Thanks yeah I know you have to pay for netflix but I don't do any online games so for my it wouldent be worth the money for the gold membership just to watch netflix when I am already paying netflix. But thanks for the info.

Yup. So if one of your main intentions is to watch netflix, then go with the PS3. Games aren't as good imo (though they do have a few good exclusives), but it's really all basically the same.

I have an xbox and I couldn't imagine using anything else... The ps3 just doesn't cut it for me. It may be free but with xbox live what you pay for is what you get, it doesn't have as high quality online as xbox live. Then you have the games. Overall the xbox has a lot more games. But in my opinion the xbox has better games.

Just play a few games of halo online, it is the most fun I have every had with gaming. It's not just an epic, fun game, it's how social it is and the things that happen along the way. The ps3 just doesn't have games like this. The ps3 is a more isolated experience more for the single player only crowd. On the ps3 you have games like killzone, but lets be honest, it's just doesn't pack that 'fun factor' as much as the games on xbox. The xbox is for the people who like to muck around and have a laugh.

The xbox is just way more social, and the games are just a blast. The online may cost money but it is worth every cent, for me, the memories on xbox live will last forever... Not only that but xbox has kinect and a crap load of arcade games online.

Ok but I don't like the online games. If I did I would go for the xbox but I think online shooter games like halo COD and things like that are boring. That's why I am so torn I have ps3 games but not xbox. If PS3 still had backward capbailty then Id get it no questions asked but they changed it, Thanks for the honest opnion tho

Games like Tomb Raider, Assassins Creed, Fatal frame, Clock Tower, Heavenly sword ( I know that's just a ps3 game) and haunting ground are my favorits.

Thanks for your opnions but there are plenty of games I like out there. I feel the online shooter games are very borning so sorry but ANY game online I do not like and will not play.

PS3 is the way to go if you want more quality single player games.

Also if you want a system that won't die on you cause you use it -_-

360 does have a better online aspect though. But the PS3's online aspect isn't bad anyways. Especially if you look at the Wii's lol.

I've enjoyed my PS3 a lot. I do want a 360 though just for a few games. But nothing to get me to buy it yet.

I say you go for a PS3. To use Netflix on a 360 you have to pay their 60 or 50 something fee just to use it and you still have to pay the 9 dollars for Netflix on the ps3 you just pay the 9. Also there are more PS3 exclusive games coming out this than just two on the 360. The PS3 has a blu ray and it's silent not like the old 360 don't know of the new Ones.

If you don't like online shooters, then you should do PS3. Xbox's best feature is the Xbox network, your ability to play online with tons of other people. PS3 is better tailored to single player gaming. Plus depending on your favorite genre of game would be a factor too.

The general consensus is that the PS3 is the far better choice if you're a fan of any type of game other than shooters. Xbox has lots of online shooters and not much else. Most of the big "novelty" games like Rock Band are available for both, and the PS3 motion thingie is just as good as Kinect from what I can see.

ps3. Its got blu ray and since you're no online gamer you'll be much more satisfied with the depth of the games.
