I am a Muslim :)
What religion are you?
I am a Muslim :)
I don't consider myself Athiest or religious. I have my own beliefs which I came to based off my observation of human beings. I believe more of the science aspect like evolution and the earth being like 4.6 billion years old. Science states the Universe is over 10 billion years old if that is true why did God take so long to create Man? What was he doing in the meantime? I also think religion is sexist and doesn't treat women fairly and equally. We have tons of fossil records that pretty much prove that creatures have evolved from more primitive creatures over the course of millions of years but people for some reason ignore that or don't teach it at all. Take our DNA for instance we are like 97% the same as Chimpanzees if we look at that. Why did God create us so genetically similar to Chimpanzees? Why did he have to follow any code of biology at all? Trust me I don't hate religion or anybody for that matter I love all people equally I just don't believe in it. People have slaughtered each other over different religious beliefs and doctrine why would a kind and all loving God create something that is capable of such horrific bloodshed? The fastest growing religion in the world right now is no religious affiliation and Christianity is slowly but surely becoming extinct in Europe. More and more people are taking morals and ideas from religion just not the belief in a God or sexist doctrine that holds certain people down. I have gay friends for instance and religion teaches that they are perverted and horrible sinful creatures. Swedish scientists have proven that gay men are attracted to pheromones in male sweat just like females are. Why would God make something capable of being attracted to the same sex and yet condemn it in religious texts?
I totally respect you and other people of religion as I have muslim and christian and buddhist friends. I just don't agree with many things they teach. I believe we can all get along though if we work together.
I also don't believe that people should be feared into believing in anything either. I believe in being good for goodness sake not out of fear of going to hell or anything.
As a Muslim, I respect others' opinions & beliefs :) We are all here to learn :)
As far as belief systems I suppose I have Humanist views if you are interested in what that is you can look it up I don't want to bore people with it on here.
You believe in having good morals and manners and don't care much about if God existed or not, right?
Yes exactly! I believe we can't prove whether God does or does not exist. I believe in morals and manners but without the religious doctrine. I respect everybodies beliefs though. Like I said I have friends of many religions and friends that aren't religious and I love them all same!
As long as you are happy :)
Very much so life is all about our own search for happiness. What one of us perceives to be happiness might differ from others but who are we to judge?
Voted Athiest. I believe we should treat people how we would like to be treated. Live by a code of honor, etc. Basically all the fundamental teachings from any religion. But without all the bullsh*t, close mindedness, superiority, and fairy tales. And I get to sleep in on Sunday. Works out pretty good.
If you don't believe in God. So, who created us?
I know, it is ironic lol.
I don't know who created us, or what. I'm not afraid to say I don't know. I don't need to explain it. I believe in reason. I think that's the difference between us and religious people. Religious people need something to explain things, Athiests dont.
If God created us, then who created god? You could say god always existed. To which I could say everything always existed.
So, you prefer to not think much of the whole idea of creation :)
I believe in evolution. Things were created from other things. But going back to the beginning (if there is one)... all I can say is we don't know. I don't think we'll ever find the answer. And I don't feel comfortable just assuming
So, you are agnostic atheist?
I'm all for science. And I respect what other people believe as long as they're tolerant of others.
I don't think it matters how everything started. If you knew the answer... would it honestly change your life? It wouldn't change mine. If there is a god or not... I don't care. I'm still going to be a moral, good person regardless. So what does it matter? That's why I'm not curious anyways.
I fit somewhere between agnostic and atheist. I can't say for sure that there's no God, but I don't personally believe in one. Queenofpeen explained that rather well. The energy that lives and thrives within everything, vibrating at different frequencies, is the closest thing to what I would consider God resembling. If that were the case, I don't believe that that 'God' thinks or feels or has any kind of awareness, it just simply IS. I believe in that energy, and the idea of it is reminiscent of something god-like, but I don't necessarily believe that it's God.
Most of my beliefs are more spiritual and nature-based. I take ideologies and philosophies that make sense, feel right, and strike a chord in me, from various different sources and belief systems, and adopt them into my own assortment of personal beliefs. I've yet to find a single religion or set of beliefs that suits me completely, as is. I don't like walking the beaten path and I don't like compromising who I am as a person. I search for concepts that fit ME, I don't try to force myself into any kind of belief system, because I don't fit there. That doesn't make sense to me, it goes against some of my core principles.
I totally agree with this I am the same way +1
I'm an atheist, but want to clarify that most atheists are also agnostic.
"Agnostic" is a term that simply refers to knowledge of a deity. To say, "I'm agnostic" is to say that you don't know for sure whether there is a God/Allah/supernatural being out there.
An agnostic Christian would say, "I don't know if there is a God, but I believe in one."
An agnostic Atheist would say, "I don't know if there is a God, but I don't believe in one."
I don't know many atheists who would say, "There is definitely no God."
Thanks for clarification, I really needed it! :)
But since you're not sure about the existence of God. Who created us, then?
Nobody knows how the universe came to be. Anything we could speculate about would just be a guess. I promise I'm not trying to sound disrespectful, haha. We have plenty of theories, from creationism to The Big Bang, but are any of them really more plausible than the rest? They all lead to a million other questions.
There's the legendary question: If God created the universe, then what "created" God? Many believers will say, "God has always existed" or "God just appeared." But if God
doesn't need a cause, then why does the universe need a cause? If a Being can appear out of nowhere, isn't it equally possible that the whole universe could, too?
Like I said, I don't know. I don't think mankind will ever have proof, but we have a natural desire to know where we came from, which is why I do respect people who believe in creationism.
We are all here to learn & respect each others' beliefs, dear :) Thanks!

I am Catholic and I don't really care if you don't get into my religion all you Atheist at least can you all read the Bible so you can be a better person in life the Bible is not only to get in to the religion but it also they key to live a happy life so pura jente armagada!
You have to listen to others too. Everybody is comfortable with his own beliefs ;)
Yeah I know my religion didn't not force me to be religious I did it myself cuzz I seen how happy they are and I wanted to be that to. I ain't hardcore religious person but I do love going to mass and reunions and pray at night since then I have not had a problem with anything I changed my ways so yeah.
Green Eyess, I received a chlidrens' Bible from my atheist parents when I was 8 or 10. I red it completely, more than once, like I read novels. I have Bibles in 4 languages(Dutch, French, English, German) and Korans in 3 languages (Dutch, French Arabic) in my library, in handreach.
Later, when my son was 10 or so, I gave him that same Childrens' Bible.
Green Eyess,
For instance, the last books I read are the Heresia by St John Damascene (1000 to 1100 year old, the Fount of Knowledge, part two entitled Heresies in Epitome: How They Began and Whence They Drew Their Origin. It is usually just cited as 'Heresies') and 'The Great Heresies' by Hilaire Billoc (100yr old)
Very interesting. :)
So are you religious?
I'm not reigious at all, my interest is political and sociological: IMHO, there's no big difference between Islam and christianism (don't yell at me!) but they have been waging war on each other for 13Centuries or so. IMHO that war was always caused by economic conflicts but I'm interested in how the political propaganda was done and on which theological differences it's based. as well St John Damascene and Billoc support my thesis that islam (theologically speaking) is a catholic heresy.
IMHO the origins of islam go back to the unitarism preached by Arianus and to Nestorianism, through the tachings of Bahira.
I researched and analyzed the subject objectively for many years, half-hoping to find unsufficient support for the Christian God, I suppose because I wanted the freedom to follow my own designs. However, from what I discovered, each and every one of us will one day stand before Jesus and know the truth.
What about those that don't believe or want to?
As to those who don't believe, I'm not fully certain as to their options, though I can't help but think they'll have the oportunity to accede. However, for those who choose not to believe, they've already made their own choice. You see, God is all about choice, contrary to popular belief. This is what I tell pro-choice folks on the topic of abortion. God has given each of us a choice in the end. and in the end, we'll have to live with it for a very long time. Something like eternity.
What I discovered over the course of several decades of course can't be encapsulated in a 400-odd word forum, but can be summarized by saying that Jesus is exactly who he claims to be in the Biblical account. He was and is the son of God, he walked the earth, was crucified, and rose from the dead. Every single word of it is absolutely true, and I'm a certain of it as I am the rain. The evidence to this end abounds for any who care to process it objectively and in earnest.
What are your beliefs?
French philosopher Denis Diderot, when accused of being an atheist, replied that he simply did not care whether God existed or not. In response to Voltaire, he wrote:
“It is very important not to mistake hemlock for parsley; but not at all so to believe or not in God.”
Jonathan Rauch described apatheism as "a disinclination to care all that much about one's own religion and even a stronger disinclination to care about other people's".
I've read (more than once) the Bible & the Koran.
What's the difference between you and an agnostic atheist?
When I was in Cairo, I went to Al Ahzar, and discussed religion with the students there. In Southern Tunisia, I discussed religion with some Beduins in the desert. :)
So, what made you not believe in Quran?
An agnostic thinks there may be "something or "someone", a god or so.An antheist doesn't think there's a god. An apatheist thinks that the existence or non existence of a god only has any importance for the believers, not for himself. Agnostics (=don't know in Greek) apatheists= don't care in Greek, thus a combination of atheism and apathy towards any belief)
I read the Koran but I don't believe any more of it than I believe of the Bible. I just want to know what's in it, what motivates Muslims and Christians.
Can you read Arabic?
may the FSM be with you..
No, I can't read Arabic: I have a Koran in French and one in Arabic with the French translation next to the text in Arabic.I've one in Dutch too here , and one in English online.
I voted Christian, but am happily an agnostic Christian. No one knows for sure, that's where faith comes in.
Good question!
What are your beliefs?
Very respectable. :)
I voted atheist but I want to clarify I'm an agnostic atheist.
What's the difference? What you believe in?
There might be a God, but I doubt there is enough to say I'm an atheist.
What do atheists believe in? Excuse my ignorance :)
Athiests just don't believe in a god, or subscribe to organized religion. They still have morals and a sense of values, it just varies from person to person. It's self-defined.
I believe agnostic is like being spiritual but not religious. It's between athiesm and religion.
I believe in the truth, I believe it's out there. I believe we can get closer and closer to the truth using evidence and logic. I believe the further from knowing the truth, the more likely our guessing it will be. I believe that there isn't substantial enough evidence or logic to suggest a God, so it must be a guess, so I don't believe it is likely at all. I am therefore an (agnostic) atheist. I believe in the truth, even if I don't know what the truth is yet.
I agree with this person +1 about acknowledging that there are no answers. The hardest thing a person can do is admit that they don't know what the truth is.
There are answers, we just don't have them yet, might not ever have them all.
I meant there are no answers at this time sorry and I agree.
Yeah, I do believe we might be able to know what the most likely truths are though, even though they are probably wrong, they might be close.
I'm closest to Catholic or Shintoist in beliefs but I have no bonds of loyalty to any group.
What are your beliefs?
Well I thinks condom and abortion are not really that great a solution to the human plague.
And I like Shinto's interest in nature, and in myth.
Do you believe in God?
heavens no. I will use the word 'God' in discourse but only to make a point. It's useful shorthand.
So, you don't pray to God? & do you believe that God created us?
no I don't pray anymore, and I don't think anyone created us
So, from where do we come from?
the ethereal void?
you left out the option for not caring whatsoever about religion in a good or bad way.
Christian - Catholic ; though I hardly ever go to church ..it's also been a while since I last read the bible . But nevertheless I think am a good person which is what matters the most.
wow, no Jew's. that's interesting. a lot of atheist and good ol' Christians though.
Atheist, former Hindu
What do atheists believe in?
That there is no God or supernatural bring who created it, simple as it's easier to get on with life like it
Who created us, then?
Well science doesn't know all the answers but we evolved from a ape like creature which is common ancestor to modern day apes, before that we evolved from small bacteria like stuff to mammals with limbs and it sliwly turned into a human, this took a very loooong time tho
Is there any proof of that?
Evolution yes it's not a theory anymore, but it doesn't explain everything fully
I'm Catholic :D
lol
because you are the only one who typed Catholic. The rest are atheists :D
Voted E, agnostic.
What are your beliefs?
It's too much to write it here, but to summarize:
- There might be a god, but it certainly isn't the one from the bible and it obviously doesn't give a sh*t about us, the universe is too damn big and it's arrogant + foolish to think we're alone out here.
- All the things man made until now served as tools for his own advancement, including religion so it's more than likely fake.
- I have no problem with most religious people as long as they don't preach to me about it.
If there isn't God, so who created us?
If god created us, then who created god? I appreciate what you're going at QA, but you have to admit, we're at a stalemate. : /
I am not stating any belief of mine :) I just want to get to know others' beliefs :)
Atheist. :)
What do atheists believe in?
I believe there's hasn't been any demonstrable evidence to suggest the existence of such a God.
So, who created us?
We evolved from tiny bacteria over the course of millions of years. :)
is there a proof of that?
Certainly a lot more than there is for the existence of any God. :P Besides, evolution in animals is irrefutable. Selective breeding and many transitional fossils can demonstrate this to us.
Can you give me a link or smth that poves this theory?
I am Catholic
Atheist.
Atheist.
