Yes, I've done it several times in various ways including guided, group, with a partner, solo, listening to music, listening to nothing, out in nature, and I still feel like there is something I'm not getting about it.
As in, what is the benefit? What am I doing? Am I focusing on my breath, or focusing on nothing, or focusing on not focusing?
I kept at it, set aside 5 (or was it 10?) minutes a day to sit on a chair in good posture, breathing into my belly, staring forward at nothing in particular, letting thoughts come and go and anytime I found myself thinking about something, I would focus on my breathing and let go of the thoughts. I did that for about a month but never felt like it did anything amazing for me.
I'm convinced I was doing it wrong, but every meditation video I've watched, every guide I've read or person I've listened to leads me to believe I was doing it right. I'm still probably going to keep trying it again sometime, but it's kind of hard to keep putting time, energy, and effort into something that shows me absolutely no noticeable results.
What do you mean, like "setting an intention"? I've done that some times like at the beginning or end of a yoga session the instructor will say "okay let's set an intention" but that doesn't seem to provide a result, either. It's just confusing, like if I were to meditate with a focus on certain results, then how is that meditating if the whole point is to not focus on anything?
as for the documentary, I might check it out, but seriously I've watched a dozen videos, read a dozen articles or more, listened to podcasts, etc. I have a pretty good idea what people are talking about but it just hasn't done any of the magical wonderful things people say it does for me.
Yes it healed my depression
I should try it, I am a spiritualist but I have actually never meditated. I wonder if it would be scary and make me see like the secret of life or something. Let you know when I try it.
I talk to God every day and try to read the bible and pray every day as well ! thanks

I've got many books on meditation and have been putting many methods to use but I don't think I'm doing it right at all because it doesn't seem to work for me and I also have really bad anxiety so my brain won't seem to silence. I fail at anything I try to do, why would meditation be any different?
Like listening to a audio file or youtube video? If so then yes, if no then I have not.
Yes, though personally I feel LSD is a shortcut to break down the filters and walls. Regardless, getting rid of all the noise, including yourself and laying yourself bare helps to prioritize, reorganize your thoughts, and keep focused.
Just keep at it, it takes a while to block out external stimulus, and even longer to block out the internal ones, like getting a cramp, itch, or thought stuck in your head right when you focused everything outside away.
Heal sounds fun... I'll look into it...
But I've been on all types of meds since I was a kid... For better or worse
Yes a few times but it didn't do much for me, I think because I find it hard to sleep when lots little noises around, like tragic, I found I could do it on the beach but that's the only place for some reason..
Yes and I practice it it's a very beautiful thing between all the vibrations around us and breathing you can clean clear all negative within
No, but I've been thinking about trying it and thanks for the tip. :)
Yep at past & it was very helpfull relaxing and keep u calm but now idont do it at all.
Yes I have tried meditation and I highly recommend it to everyone.
I have not, the idea of relaxing so much you can interact with spirits does not interest me by any means.
I believe so. Not conventional ways. I listen to movie soundtracks and get lost in thought. Same as when you drive and then "wake".
It's nice but how much it helps depends on the type of person you are. It isn't for everyone but it's great for the people who are into it.
I've done light and dark meditation and both have their ups and downs.
Yes and I've experienced its benefits. I need to go back to practicing it daily.
