What happens when a doctor goes to a doctor?

when a doctor is sick and they go to their own doctor do they get better service? does their doctor automatically believe them? do doctors already know whats wrong with them when theyre sick and just need another doctor to write out scripts?

Not maybe the type of doctor you're talking about, but I was literally in the Dentists chair about to get some work done, and I was like, hey, can I ask you something I've always wanted to know if it's not too personal. He was like, sure. So I asked him where do Dentists go to get their dental work done. He chuckled and said....to our fellow Dentist friends! He said we go to people we studied with in school or who are our friends because we know their work and they know we make the worst patients, but they get it.

As far as prescribing medication, a doctor in most states, in the US at least, can prescribe themselves any medications as long as they aren't controlled substances (think Vicodin). They can also treat family members and friends and prescribe medications to them but if it is a controlled substance as with any other patients, they must have them pre-screened, fill consent forms, and follow the same legal channels as with everyone else (which is why a doctor can't sign off on a controlled substance for themselves).

Doctors can have a general idea what's wrong with them especially if it's in the area they practice, but they can't for example run a scope or do their own biopsy to confirm a diagnosis, nor do they know every thing about medicine just because they are a doctor.

My father's a doctor, my brother's a doctor. Let me answer this with reality.
1) when a doctor is sick and they go to their own doctor do they get better service?
The only way a doctor (or anyone in medical fields) gets "better service" is they have an idea of what is wrong & their doctor doesn't have to play a game of twenty questions and sometimes still be guessing what the problem is as happens with general patients.

2) does their doctor automatically believe them? Course not. A fellow doctor / medical provider would have more credibility than a general patient but that doesn't mean it's an automatic yes you're right that's the problem.

3) do doctors already know what's wrong with them when they're sick and just need another doctor to write out scripts? ROFL. No. Do you think a general doctor knows everything? If they did specialists wouldn't exist. Like said, as with most medical providers (nurses, pharmacists, etc.) a doctor would have a better idea of what's wrong than a general patient but that doesn't mean they're right.
