I always thought it did that to everyone, but I’ve heard others say it does it. It does to everyone in my family! We had asparagus last night and whewwww, stinky pee. Seems to last for about 24 hours.
I’ve noticed I could have half a stalk of asparagus in a salad and my per is still just as stinky. You?

Interesting. More people are saying it doesn’t than I expected. Hmmmm. Trust me you would notice. It is a BAD smell.
Yeah, this is a pretty well known one. It also makes semen taste terrible! The opposite of course is PINEAPPLE JUICE! (I don’t really care about the effects on urine) However, it will make semen (cum) taste positively delightful! Ladies, if you meet a guy and he’s drinking 8oz of pineapple juice every evening before he leaves home for a date with you… marry him! This has got to be one of the most thoughtful guys EVER! A dozen roses may seem romantic, but changing his diet just in case you happen to go down on him… wow, just wow! Guys, take notes here!

I thought this was something genetic ,(might be mistaking it for something else) like with the people that can smell ants, or think coriander taste like -something?- . I can’t smell it whenever we eat it but maybe I just don’t eat enough in one sitting
Yee you are right. .. but partially... but reason is not asparagus... since asparagus is good for kidney it helps more efficient filteration of urine causing urine to have more urea thus a stinky pee. Now urea levels differ from body to body according to food and so thus the smell.

you are correct, certain foods can do that to you, and it can affect others differently. You can probably look it up and find out exactly why it does that if you are that interested. Supposedly if you eat a lot of dairy products it can make your feet smell.
Definitely makes my pee stink. I think there's genetic reasons why it makes some people's pee stink and not others. Similar to how cilantro tastes like soap to some people.
I've started to use asparagus as a prank. Eat some before I'm going to be at someone's house or office like at a party so there are enough people for them not to know it was me. Go pee, don't flush. Bathroom will smell like burnt rubber.
@loves2learn You're right. I don't drink enough water. I hate the taste of water, even though it's nicely filtered by the fridge. In addition to the limited water I do drink, I often drink Gatorade or fruit juices, or add NUUN to the water. I'm sure those affect the color and odor of my pee.
@loves2learn Interesting you suggested that. I used to drink that when I was younger. Typically filled a half gallon pitcher with water and (was it 2 or 4 scoops of Crystal Light?). I guess I just got tired of the taste.
I'm pretty sure it does. Broccoli messed me up completely. The smell was in my urine, my fecal matter and i smelt it when I sweat. Lol when trying to eat healthy goes wrong.
When digested asparagusic acid gets broken down into sulfur containing byproducts. Sulfur, in general, is not very pleasant to smell, When you pee, the sulfur byproducts evaporate almost immediately, causing you to smell that unpleasant scent.
I believe any veggie could make ones urine smell , I had beets change my urine to color red and thought oh shit I'm peeing blood and to this day I refuse to eat beets
Sometimes those that are drinking a lot of them in excess have an odd urine smell when they go sometimes its slightly sweet but if it gets on the floor it is sticky
