As the Pink Anon says HIT is best bet, always worth doing on most jogs, switch from jog mode to sprint mode and then back down to jog.
if you have a normal route, look at it on Google maps and work out a set of sections for various speeds, energy release points.
Also doing various runs, a 5km quick run one day, then a gentle, then a quick etc. also throw in some 10km runs doing the same.
make sure you put in core exercise routine as well, some can be part of warm up and as cool down.

You burn about the same calories running a mile as walking a mile. It's not a matter of "better." Just faster.
I suggest doing HIIT instead, it helps burn fat without really sacrificing your muscles as much compared to steady state cardio. You can definitely switch up running and turn it into a HIIT workout (e. g. sprint fast for 1 min, then jog for 15 secs, 1 min sprint, 15 secs jog - just keep doing the interval until you hit about 15-30 mins total of sprinting)

there's mire up it than that. A mix is best, but the number of calories consumed also matters.
Do all the HIIT you want, but if you're not eating right then that fat isn't going anywhere
