I am shocked at the number of people who got this wrong, even the women. However, I am not surprised. Plan B is NOTHING more than taking a regular birth control pill out of your monthly pack of birth control pills. It PREVENTS ovulation and ovulation is when that egg is released. Someone (Female Responder) said it prevents the egg from implanting in the uterus. The egg does not implant until its been fertilized. By then you are too late and pregnant. The abortion pill is two separate pills one is mifepristone (same thing as RU-486) followed by misoprostol two days later. The abortion pills are used for pregnacies 10 weeks or less.

The most common type of plan B (levonorgestrel) works by inhibiting ovulation, which means that fertilization of the egg and the subsequent formation of the zygote never actually happens if plan B is successful.

And since the pro lifers consider zygote "a human life" and that's what differentiates it from sperm and egg cells in their head, then they can't possibly consider plan B "abortion", as per their own logic.

A lot of religious were formed at a time where growing the population was critical to the survival of a culture. So having lots of children was important. Now we have the opposite problem.

A lot of these religions also had ideas of avoiding temptations that would taint your ideal self. The viewed sex as being solely for reproduction, so non-reproductive sex was considered a pleasure indulgence that could corrupt you in a way that wasn't absolutely necessary. This why its bans include gay sex and extra-marital sex, but then also weirder things like condoms, masturbation, and anal/oral sex. We call it "missionary position" for a reason.

Otherwise, if anyone things contraceptives are "abortion", I would be interested in what they think about any period, or the billions of sperm that don't meet an egg.

As I understand, Plan "B" is just like taking a mega dose of birth control medication and prevents the release of an egg or ovulation the same as it does for anyone taking birth control pills, thus preventing pregnancy. In conclusion I wouldn't compare that to abortion where pregnancy has already taken place

I don't have moral issues with abortion or sex, so I don't even care. lol. I am not religious at all, so I don't even understand some of the concerns people have over fertilized eggs. Not being derogatory either - I fully support individual choices, even if I don't fully get the reasoning. But if you don't respect mine, I'm just going to roll my eyes and move on. Thankfully, I have that right in this society, and I will exercise it.

It's not that I don't understand how contraceptives or plan b works or what it does, I'm happy that it's an option for some people. What I dislike is how people abuse this, how they are unwilling to take responsibility, how they are not encouraged to practice some sort of discipline, restraint.
This mentality, "I want this, and I want it now" is bad in the long term. It corrupts you into this selfish being that can't and won't cooperate with no one. It's all me, me, me. It's... So many things that I just can't. I can't anymore.

Yes, and no. You have had sex, consensually or not, and want to not be pregnant because you can't or don't want to be pregnant. In this sense it is the responsible thing to do.
But this very action is the problem. We're talking about medication, not prevention.
When it comes to non consensual sex, yes 100%, good thing that plan b exists. But for everybody else... It's like choosing to gorge yourself on cake because you like cake, and then going to the doctor to get a liposuction because you don't want to look fat.
Listen, it's a personal thing, if you think that it helps you to be pounded by men left and right, specially from those who don't even consider practicing safe sex... You do you, your life I'm not telling you to change, but to me, it's a very immoral, irresponsible way of life.

Plan b is there for security. Condom breaks, not sure if you took your birth control on time, peace of mind. 99% of the time that is when plan b is used.

It's not the same thing. Plan B prevents the egg from adhering to the uterine wall.

Depends on how the particular process works. Some prevent the formation of the fetus from ever starting. That would NOT be the equivalent of an abortion because the life never started. However, if the process allows the fetus to start forming then afterwards kills it, then yes it is an abortion.

It's not abortion. It basically makes the fertilized egg fall out instead of sticking to the uterus. Like, within hours/days of the zygote being created. I'm pro-choice so I don't really care either way.

I took plan B once because I was concerned about becoming pregnant. I took it before I had the chance to conceive so I certainly wouldn't consider it an abortion.

It depends on when you take it. If it's before there is a heartbeat, then it's not murder. Once there is a heartbeat, your a murderer. Plan B as i know it is meant for about a week or two after.
