Not as happy as I can be but I think wired more towards the anxiety side of the spectrum. When things are stressing me out, I tend to get energized by it rather than depressed, like butterflies before performing on a stage. So I get hyper-active and start doing things like aggressively cleaning the house, work out, dance, etc.
Yes and I think I manage it well enough.
I know nobody gives a fuck about me and that I'm on my own, but I haven't let it finish me yet. I still work full time, I still keep a clean apartment and clean body, still force myself to eat on some days... not gonna lay down and let it take me.
Sometimes I just like to imagine I'm DoomGuy. A loner in a fierce world just ripping and tearing through the madness, lol. It helps!
There should be an option for "yes, but I have it managed"
I have major depressive disorder, but since I started talking to my doctor and doing something about it I feel much better.
It's really easy for me, even now, to slip into the mindset of "I hate me, you should hate me too" but I at least know to deal with those feelings when they arise.
I think some people who wrote 'yes' just read little bit stuff about depression and they think they are sick. (no, it's not just being sad)
Tbh, I don't know if I have depression or not. If I wanted to know 100%, I would need visit a psychologist and have a long interviews... Not just read random stuff about depression on the Internet.

I have dealt with depression for a long time. I’m pretty good at hiding it and don’t talk about things the way that I should. I would say that right now, I’m in a less intense phase. It took therapy and some meds when I was in my darkest phase. I have hope now and that’s more than I once had.
I’m not on here as frequently as some of the other regular members but please reach out if you need.
No, but I have Schizophrenia and Bi-Polar (Both combined is also called Schizoaffective Disorder). Makes me wish I only had Depression. People don't realize how debilitating and stigmatized Schizophrenia is in comparison to Depression. A lot of people are talking openly about Depression nowadays which is a good thing I guess but more serious illnesses like Schizophrenia are still compared to psychopathy and associated with things like Serial Killers or Insane Asylums.
i'm not sure at all. i do show signs like feeling sad or lonely lots of times, had days when i just wanted to die, im always irritated and i can't concentrate on things and motivation is basically outta the window. i have no actual idea on why this is even happening. i just dismiss these signs and say to myself "im prolly just attention seeking. im aight". but i honestly dont know..
probably? I don't know i dont want to do a self-diagnosis or something, but yeah i've made plans on ending my life many times. "plans" only, i dont think i have anything that home that could kill me painlessly. im too much of a coward. i randomly start crying, sleep a LOT and am currently starving myself for whatever reason.
I used to have a really bad case of it. Like wishing I would die in my sleep every night. I'm not quite sure what happened but I managed to snap out of it. I think I just changed who I hung out with and that's about it.
I went to therapy and took pills but they didn't really seem to help.
Yeah and im pretty open about it. I'm taking steps to try to fix it and my anxiety though
I'm on the verge of killing myself. I have a therapist I visit regularly, but it doesn't do much for me.
I suppose.
Okay :)
Yes suffering from PPD right now for the 3rd time and it sucks cause I can tell it's only getting worse
I hope you start feeling better.
@annabananna thank you
Yeah for years, Depression and PTSD.
you okay?
No. People will think I'm an attention-seeker because of those who fake it, so I went anon.
I suggest you take up Bri on her offer.
Seriously she’s lovely to chat to.
@ez-bri-z
I've had major depression / Bipolar / Schizo-effective disorder / Generalized Anxiety Disorder / Dissociation Disorder... so it was hard for me to hide
No. I'm never depressive or euphoric. I feel sometimes down, but it's physically, few hours more sleep helps to gain my body energy again.
Yes the non sense unrelated stupid shouldn’t exist modern world is the cause..
A house with 1930s lifestyle doesn’t give you a depression
I had pretty major depression for a long time, but now it is quite mild.
Before I had now I don't thankfully. I recovered from it.
Yeah I don't hide it nor care really that I have it. Just it's there and shrug.
Been treated for it more than once. One of the most common afflictions right now.
Yeah, struggling to get access to medication for it atm lol
I don't know, I'm not self diagnosing. Some would say I am depressed, but without a real diagnosis, I won't say it.
I am indeed constantly sad and other stuff tho.
Yeah but i can pretend to be happy or cheery. Sometimes i am too tired for that
Not really depressed but I'm not happy either as I can't get something I want so much. It is frustration mixed with sadness.
If you’re not on antidepressants you just sound poor.
Depression can never be hidden, survey results show that people are ashamed of their own depression.
Yes it can, it’s fairly easy tbh.
But I can not do this.
Yes some people cannot but depression is one of the silent killers.
It’s reason why you suddenly hear about someone taking their own life and know one knows they were struggling as much or even had depression.
With everyone it is slightly different.
Also some is a short one, others for life
I have had depression for years and I even have thoughts of suicide almost every day. But I'm still alive. I think it's mostly about the strong will of person.
Yes it can be strong will, however all it often takes is that extra something to cause it too become too much. This is why people getting counselling and learning coping strategies or mitigating the cause for the depression.
Definitely. And at this stage, medicine also plays a very important role.
Personally I avoid medication and do other coping methods
No, I’m consistently sad for good reasons.
Meaning I’m depressed, not that I have clinical depression.
Getting a girlfriend definitely helped me not get sad
Yeah I’ve been dealing with it for a bit now everything I try to do does not work it just made it worse like I got a girlfriend Lester 7 moths and my depression got worse because I feel like I will not get a girlfriend again
voted b but there are times i can't hide it
Yes, and I'm so-so at hiding it.
My life isn’t very great but I am not depressed
Yeahh. I feel like a lot of people do.
I used to, not any more
How did you get over it?
@tom_the_dating_snob mental health counseling and medication
How do know if your depressed or have depression?
@tom_the_dating_snob Well I got a diagnosis, but if you are constantly sad, don't enjoy things like you used to, melancholy, sleep too much or too little than those symptoms would suggest you have depression
Maybe I do
@tom_the_dating_snob you should talk to you PCP about it
PCP?
@tom_the_dating_snob primary care provider.. your doctor
I will
I have before but I don’t currently
Currently no. 10 years ago yes
Yes clinical depression just learn to live with it
or maybe I only think I'm good at hiding it...
Maybe. But i don't feel anything
I may not know it yet. I'm in pain which gives me a little fatigue at some point making me lazy but mind over matter is what i do.
I cope day to day
Yeap
Yepper
Does everybody
No i do not
Absolutely I do
Nope.
Used to. It sucked.
Depression is a brain chemical that never leaves. You still have it, but it's been calmed down.
I don't know. But yeah. Never felt like it after I made certain changes in my life.
maybe sometimes
Not right now
