I struggle with depression from a feeling of loneliness. I desire to one day meet my Soulmate and start a beautiful family with her.

I’ve been through a lot in life and have moments of feeling depressed about everything HOWEVER, the moment I do, I always remind myself how lucky in life too. It’s so easy to focus on the bad in life but forget all the good.
I’ve also had it incredibly hard in life but it’s shaped me and it’s all about what you allow your experiences to make of you. I could easily throw myself down a dark hole since I’ve had an alcoholic/abusive father, had big amounts years ago, always been used by guys, lost my house in a flood, been molested several times, been homeless 3 times, I get bullied/tormented daily at work, car got stolen and the next one I lost due to a flood… the list is endless… there’s so much to live for and appreciate and all these downfalls only make you stronger. Anything could happen to me and I know I’ll be okay and I have zero stress or worry because it has always worked out for me.
Just have faith and always remember to cut off negative thoughts, allow yourself a day or two to cry it out or worry but then just let it go. So good I learnt to do this

Unfortunately, yes, I take two different antidepressants. I've actually had this problem for years.

Depression strikes when you can't live up to someones expectations. Maybe even your own expectations. I believe that is because we all want to be part of a group. The best way to shake it is to drop those expectations and be yourself. Realize your shortages and limitations. Focus on you gifts. I come from an autistic family provable to as far back as 1900. High functioning autism all around, Brothers, cousins, aunts, Dad, they all had trouble with the world but never with math and science. The only way I was anywhere successful with my peers was through music. A science that makes people smile. At 74 I can no longer play , now just sing. Be care how you approach others. Your intelligence will be seen as threatening. In some circles I had to do the Andy of Mayberry act to be accepted. So to answer that question. No, I don't struggle with it now, but I have learned ways to adjust and compensate. First diagnosed at 18 meds did not help, 74 now unmedicated. Learn to appreciate what you are, stop tearing yourself up. The world will do that for you.

Yes, for many years, depression is my usual struggle.

I'm pretty sure I have high functioning depression. When I'm alone, I feel fine. But when I'm around others, the string that's holds my sanity together starts to thin.

I did a long time ago but i learned to deal with it these days it's not as bad as it once was. I find taking a nice long walk really helps me out.

I have been through rough patches via abandonment from parents at the age of 12, physical abuse and rape, but nothing that has led to full-blown depression.

All the time. I have no friends with time to hang out, am still grieving for my first and only love, and am always hard on myself without even knowing why.
