This was sad as I enjoyed his posts. If any of you have any health issues, don't ask us, go to the emergency room. Commodore died but never heard why. But I assume it was renal failure. He just waited too long to go to emergency. :(

I was not on this site long enough to know him or know the situation… However, I hope he rests in peace. His post descriptions do sound like renal failure to me… That can kill you very quickly if left untreated/undiagnosed.

I agree. I see an alarming amount of health-related questions asked on here. I usually see the ones that are just small little things like allergies causing red eyes, a rash, UTI, etc. It is rare that I see some serious, alarming questions and descriptions, but regardless of how severe, people should always call their doctor or get a check-up.

I urge people all the time to not ask GaG, but to call 911, go to the ER, or at least make an appointment… It could be life-saving sometimes, so I don't necessarily understand the hesitation. I can understand not having the finances or insurance to cover medical bills, so they hold off on even visiting… But again, if you know/feel something is wrong… PLEASE, go to the doctor, call 911, or make an appointment…. It could save your life.

My father was a cop for 33 years, and retired at 55 but was forced to spend his entire savings to help someone out of a jam. This was supposed to get him to full retirement age. Due to this he was relegated to try to skate to full retirement age without insurance. He was a smoker and had his spleen removed already which left him more susceptible to infection ( didn't help that my father was a man's man if he was in pain you'd never know it) while I admired this as a young man and still respect him. It's because of this that I say THERE IS NO HONOR IN ACTING TOUGH OR SUFFERING! I say this because I take solace in the fact that medical intervention or no. My dad's macho attitude is what sealed his fate even if money hadn't been a factor (I know from passed experiences he wouldn't listen to his doctors). But my father's death is a cautionary tale.
My sister was already a kidney transplant recipient (so my dad knew the signs). And my father got really ill and was in renal failure by the time he went to the doctor. He didn't make it! But it didn't have to be that way! So please if you're still reading this don't take your health lightly. The old saying is very true "an ounce of prevention (really) is worth a pound of cure".

I wanted to share this story because NOBODY wants to go to the doctor. And there's a line between prevention and having a test done just so the Dr.'s feels protected and doesn't get sued. And it's unfortunate.
But a bill doesn't matter if you're DEAD.
Listen to your body! You could save not only money in the long run but your life.

Absolutely, D. As a Massage Therapist, I cannot legally diagnose anything (not like in Australia where MT's are held in much higher regard) - but I digress - - - -

I can examine via palpation, observation of movement (or lack thereof), level of pain and other symptoms as reported by the client, etc. and arrive at a "clinical impression" of what might be going on. And a lot of it is just common sense, like the mnemonic for first aid- ABC- Airway (1st), Breathing (2nd), Circulation (3rd).

I may have dozens of books with literally hundreds of pathologies, thousands of treatments, and even studies in Medical Microbiology, but doesn't mean that I am fully conversant in all of them. I have a dictionary too, but that doesn't mean I know all 200,000+ words in it. Hopefully, I can get someone steered in the right direction if the question is "within my scope of practice", with the admonition that they see their medical doctor ASAP!

It's caused by skeletal muscular injury and the damaged muscle cells causes proteins to breakdown and leak into the bloodstream which causes as you mentioned renal injury.

Ouch! All the more reason to go to a doctor to get a real diagnosis instead of asking on here.

Exactly the person that knows what it could be may not be here at the time and cannot run tests to confirm the diagnosis nor get you on dialysis as in Commidores case.

Yes but how does a bad knee turn into Dying what exactly had happened A lot of times when I’m injured I never go to the hospital I just have to heal naturally. I don’t have insurance
