If a pregnancy was complicated the 1st time why do some women want to try it again?

My co-worker's first pregnancy (she was 35 already) was complicated, still painful and she nearly didn't make it. She fainted a couple times, got transferred to the ICU and needed blood transfusion.

Then 3 years later, she got pregnant again with twins. She was a high risk pregnancy but this time she had a C-section. Though she said the procedure went easier and nothing like the 1st time. She got her tubes tied afterwards. The twins are already 2 years old.

I don't understand. If it was complicated the first time, why do some women still want to try again? If I were her, I wouldn't risk a 2nd pregnancy.

She said C-section was easier than the first time. Still... that was very risky. I wouldn't risk it a 2nd time.

Because the result to having a pregnancy is a child and if you want another child, chances are you are going to risk it because risking it is worth it when you want a child

That's brave. I'm a coward. If I were her, I wouldn't risk a 2nd time. I'm told that maternal instinct and the urge to have kids is so strong that you overlook the risks... wow

People are obsessed with multiplying no matter what. A little selfish in my opinion.

Maybe she wanted the 2nd child and brave/strong enough to take their risk/pain

She wanted to give their daughter a sibling and didn't care about the risks. Wow. I wouldn't have taken the risk. She's so brave in comparing to me.

Some mothers do that. They want the child so badly that they will take any kind of risk. But I find that stupid as well. By doing that, she’s anyways putting her life at risk, but she’s putting child’s life at risk as well. Also if dies, her child will be without a mother. So although it’s a brave call but as per me it’s a stupid call as well
