Do you hurt yourself by accident?

In police academies across the country, it's common for cadets to at some point be pepper sprayed where they then have to complete a series of tasks that require gross motor skills and the ability to continue thinking through the pain.

I've been meaning to expose myself to it as practice but never got around to it as I'm afraid I might just end up cussing and being unable to perform required tasks. Just cutting raw onions in a restaurant I worked in got painful after 10 large onions.

I found a way I can work up to it by taking my POM OC spray and spraying my wrist to see how it feels on skin normally. It didn't hurt at all but a little bit of blowback occured and annoyed my nose and throat.

I put some above my eye as well, not ready for full on eye exposure.

I could still feel the fumes from the spray on my eyebrow, slightly exposing my eye to it which was unpleasant but didn't interfere. However I'd also put a dab right below my eye and when I tilted my head back, both sections went into my eye and the burning was very extreme.

It feels like you're on fire, the pain isn't as bad when your eye is closed but when you open it, it leaks into the back and gets so much worse.

I'd put a cube of ice on my eye which helped a little and after about 10 minutes, I was able to keep it open long enough to get to the fountain. I couldn't open my other eye because then the spray would swash around more as my eye shakes as I try to keep it closed while opening the other.

I would open my eye and squirt water on it periodically for 10 minutes until finally, the pain was low enough that i can keep it open. That's where I'm at now.

I need to call POM and tell them to calm down with their formula because mother of hell, that was bad🥵
