Why do we swing our arms when we walk?

it is just a natural motion for balance

it sort of balances the momentum of the body and whatever forces apply

so you counter right arm with left leg, and right leg with left arm... lol

and if you didn't do this... you could sort of start to rotate or just feel very uncomfortable trying to keep a steady pace

It's mostly a balance thing.

I knew a guy who walked with his arms rigidly by his sides when he walked. It made him look like a knuckle-dragging caveman. People who walk like that look like they have something wrong with them.

Everyone does different things but the arms they’re just there, why not swing them? Imagine walking with them glued to your sides? No thanks.
