I'm 26 turning 27 this month. Ever since I was 25, I've been noticing that I've just been gaining weight for no reason. I've maintained the same diet as I've been since 18. I don't eat a lot of junk food, YET, I'm still gaining weight. I have to work out 4 times a week to prevent weight gain. But on certain busy weeks, I simply do not have the time to work out. Any carbs or meat will make me fat. I have to literally go on a plant based diet in order to not gain any weight. This literally means eating salads almost every meal of the day. I don't know if this is normal part of getting older, my metabolism slowing down. Or if it could be some sort of symptom of a hidden illness. I do not have diabetes or high cholesterol. But I am a bit overweight. Other people my age eat bacon egg and cheese sandwiches for breakfast, then fried chicken or lasagna for lunch then chipotle for dinner. They still dont gain a single pound. If I were to eat these things, i would gain 10 pounds easily
I'm in my mid 40's and will lose weight if I don't eat enough. I would guess that in your case that you could have Subclinical Hypothyroidism (but I'm not a Doctor):

I would bet money that you are severely iodine deficient and that you don't get enough selenium too. Doctors completely ignore iodine unless they are using it to disinfect hands or diagnosis. I recommend you buy the book 'Iodine Why You Need It' by David Brownstein. It's one of the more complex minerals to supplement with but I've been doing so for decades. Check the symptoms in that link and see how many match, but bear in mind that Doctors generally ignore the importance of iodine... it would put them out of business if people knew about it.
Do you have any slightly hard or ropy areas on your breast tissue? Check this link and also note anything you recognise:

Our metabolisms slow down with age. Avoid sugary foods, sodas, fried foods and starch/breads. Stick with proteins and try to get a walk in every day or some exercise
Check with your doctor as maybe your thyroid is under-active. Metabolism is slowing down some but kinda young for this right now unless you are doing something different with eating and exercising. Try walking more. Cut out what fat may be in your diet.

In your 20s, you can lose weight, gain it, and lose it back again. But once get up to 30, it stays longer. That is why you should eat healthily and work out. Your bright future, unlike mine.
As you get older your metabolism slows down and you gain weight easier.
Contraception. Used to be able to tell which girls were on the pill by how fat their asses got.
