What to do about memory problems?

I'm on Sertraline/Zoloft 100mg dosage. I've been on them since July and my memory keeps on getting worse in them.

It was always pretty bad but this is getting ridiculous now. I was at university today and I forgot where my classroom was and were I was going!

I know I need to talk to my doctors however I need to call at 8am and then wait up to an hour to get through. I am on the train travelling to university most days and calling in a train is not ideal. Then if you do get through I have to ask for an evening telephone appointment and see if I they have any appointments available.

I can't call later than 8am as there will be no appointments nor can I ask to get them to call on my lunch break as they are on lunch as well. It is a nightmare.

And before you say anything about going to hospital I can't as the nurses are on strike over here. That reminds me I need to do a post about that soon 😂

Nor can I ask my fellow students because they are not qualified either. And it doesn't work like that anyways. I just want something that can help with memory loss, tiredness and insomnia. That doesn't interfere with my anti depression meds nor my birth control pill.

Any ideas please?

- Try a schedule that eludes rem sleep.

- Memory/brain foods.

- some memory games- flash cards; etc.

- incorporating simple recall systems for newly given info. Like writing things in (3’s) or (4’s)

(This was the method used for the number of digits in phone numbers so we could remember them easier).

Also, consider lowering the dosage and asking a doctor for an alternative. Could be facing a major side affect from that!

Thankfully, some discoveries are being achieved for Alzheimer’s. If things became drastically worse, could consider volunteering to be a test subject on the new found research, in hopes it’d be a success for you!

I'm sorry to hear about the issues, when I was on Sertralin many many years ago. I could sense my cognitive abilities getting lowered in terms of: Overall awareness and memory related problems. I had heavy problems with my intestines too. I got constipated a lot!

I HAD to exercise daily and write things down on lists so I would maintain routine. Taking saunas and sweating out crap also helped me.

If i did not follow these steps seriously, I turned into a zombie who barely knew what day tomorrow was. But my mental status back then was so poor, being a zombie I suppose is better then dead. Even though I'm highly sceptical to the medications they give out as candy these days 😑

Take memory loss seriously, try new things. If you can cope!

Serious question: are you asking about suggestions on dealing with the memory loss or about getting the appointment? If the memory loss, I have no answers but I'm really sorry: my wife was on Zoloft and it messed with all her other meds, birth control, and she lost memory. So yeah. Feel for you there.

For the appointment, can you have someone call for you? My boss' doctor's office lets me do that for him.

Yeah I hate how doctors' offices are on the same work hours as everyone else's job. I guess they figure that it weeds out the people who don't need serious help

Even the intelligent smart people on the planet practice to remind themselves somehow. Please Write down the things and stick them to the wall, use phone alarm, decorate your lifestyle with some extra work and make sure you remind yourself of things, from High important things to low important things.
