Should I have surgery for tethered cord?

Yes, you should but there are very limited neurosurgeons in the US that do it. Also you spinal cord can re-tether. Do you have Ehlers Danlos Syndrome?

This condition is nearly impossible to live with. There are so many other maladies and constant symptoms.
I know now that it's genetic, but I don't know which side of my family it comes from because I don't know my father. I do remember my mom having very soft skin, so maybe it's from her.
One good thing about this condition is that you don't seem to age on the outside. I am 68 and my boyfriend told me the other day that I look 42 😎.
I found a doctor that specializes in ED. He just got back from a ED conference in Rome.
Do you know I'd gastroparesis I'd common with ED?

I have EDS too. Tethered cord is literally what is says. The spinal cord with tether or stick to surrounding areas within the back. It usually tethers below the waist. The spinal cord is meant to be free floating within the spinal column. There are but a few surgeons in the US that do this surgery. The one's I know do not accept nor participate with insurance. And the cord can re-tether after surgery and then you are at square one. A person can be born with TCS while others don't develop until adulthood. TCS is also linked to Spina Bifida. As far as gastroparesis most of us EDSers have it and other motility issues. I have had over 30 surgeries. I am just two months post-op from having a partial knee replacement. I had my hip replaced at 40. I have even had brain surgery for hydrocephalus caused by Chiari Malformation of the brain. I now have a VP shunt in my brain to drain off excess CSF to my stomach. I live in chronic pain.

WOW You've had quite a few surgeries! I know if I had to have even one surgery that I wouldn't make it. I am just barely hanging on now.
For two years I was actually healthy, no pain, no pills. I was so happy!!! I thought I would never be sick again after working so hard in an inpatient wellness center for 6 months. But I guess I relapsed.
It just goes to show that you can feel totally all better from a good wellness center and a lot of physical and occupational therapy, a good diet, vitamin d.
