I've cut out all sugars and upped my protein and I've gained 4 pounds why?

I've been jogging, walking and doing butt and side butt squats and lunges.

I'm eating lean but with protein

I'm eating 1200 calories now when I used to eat well over 2000 and never exercised.

I used to eat a lot of sweet stuff and chocolate why am I gaining weight now?

I've cut out all sugars and upped my protein and I've gained 4 pounds why?
