Real life example is I have a 1985 house where during that time showers were stand-up only without a tub in any form in the master. The second bath has the typical bath/shower combo while half is downstairs. EVERY tenant or potential complains about the thinking here and I agree. So, from a Revenue return rate the correct answer is BOTH and in some capacity a tub with a shower.
My personal preferences are a shower first then a nice long soak or bath in the tub that is next too but not part of the shower in my Master.

Depends on my mood. Sometimes I like beads of hot water hitting me massaging our bodies. Sometimes with a lover, I prefer a long hot bath until our skin wrinkles!

Shower for everyday, bathtub for relaxing, or for therapeutic reasons like helping to release a tense muscle or something. Literally 99.9% of the time I'll take a shower over a bath though. Most of the time I just want to get clean - in and out and onto other things.
