I find working out, being in nature and socializing with people you enjoy to be particularly effective.
My mood is normally pretty good but man I feel so much better after a nice workout session. Beautiful day too!

Absolutely agree about exercise, especially if its outdoors. That’s a big part of why I try to go hiking at least twice a week. But I also try to have a game night with my friends once a week, which quickly turns into bullshitting about life. I used to also go shooting once a week just haven’t had the time (or money) to do it in a while.
Do you ever play any pen and paper games during game night? Like Dungeons and Dragons?
The activities you listed are pretty fun though, hiking, hanging out and shooting. It's so nice to get away from screens and enjoy the real world and the joys of our physicality (such as working out).
I play and DM 5E DnD have been for a few years now. But after the whole OGL bullshit we have started looking for other systems. Unfortunately most of the games we play are online due to people living in different states.
Pathfinder (both editions) is pretty nice and Exalted 2.5 is one hell of a nice power trip. I have heard the Vampire the Masquerade tabletop series is pretty cool too.
I have people that play in different countries so we meet on discord and use digital resources to play. It's more fun in person I bet, I haven't gotten to do that. But cool to hear that you are a dungeon master.
What's your favorite class in 5e? I'm partial to beefy hybrids like the Paladin although high level Wizards.. well clone is fun : )
I have looked into pathfinder a bit. But it gets pretty complicated and I haven’t had the time to dedicate to learning a new system that I may or may not actually play. One of the other girls in the group suggested Gloomhaven. Less RP more TT. But that does look fun. Another wants to do Vampire the Masquerade but she is also a Twilight fan girl so that kinda puts me off. We have done Call of Cthulhu and a star wars one I forget was system that was.
We mostly play on discord and Roll 20. But are talking about trying out table top simulator.
The highest I have up from level 1 is a level 12 barbarian, but that game is on a hiatus. I have also done an arcane trickster, a home brew doctor class (for a null magic setting), and a blood hunter (Matt Mercer’s) but that’s the cool part about DMing, I get to experiment with other builds. Still haven’t found anyone who will let me roll my Valkyrie concept though.
I just recently learned the joys of working out - nature is a big deal for me too, always been. At times spending times with friends boost my mood but I'm highly introverted - so just being by myself can do that too.
For me there's also journaling, reading or just inducing in one of my hobbies, cleaning my space - nothing more boosting to my mood than being in a clean space after a productive day.
Go for a hike and enjoying the wonders of creation.
Appreciate what I have instead of dwelling on things that bring me down.
Talk to my wife. She is very insightful and can provide a different perspective.
Listen to music or an entertaining book on CD.
Distract myself with a book or a movie.
Have a good sense of humor, including sarcasm and irony.
Try walking, playing a team sport or pumping iron at the gym. Diet also plays an important role in maintaining emotional health. Be sure to eat a diet rich in whole grains, lean meats, vegetables, fruits, beans and nuts. Interacting with others can also help boost a person's mood.

I just try to take my feelings which are what result in moods and filter them through logic. I try to define the problem and look for solutions to the problem. Where no solution exists, I try to just tolerate it. I find by actively looking for solutions instead of dwelling in emotionality and by learning to except what I can’t fix, it helps boost my mood at least to some extent.
I think you're talking about a different situation than what juxtapose asked. What do you mean by tolerating it? Tolerate the feeling/emotion? That would be repressing in other words, which ends fucked up 100% of the time, in one way or another, often causing physical disease as a result. Everything has a cause though, right? Emotions show unmet needs, and most of the time these are the type that aren't "unfixable"...
I mean if I cannot change something, than I have to accept it for what it is. At that point my acceptance of a situation being something I can’t change helps regulate my mood, rather than the alternative which is being pissed or anxious or sad about something I can’t change. Things sometimes are what they are.
Emotions don’t always show unmet needs and emotions are not always indicators of the truth. Any person may feel a given way about a situation but it doesn’t mean what the feel is fact. Feelings and facts are not always the same. So I try to adjust my feelings or mood about anything to the facts.
When I'm in a bad mood I either eat, meditate or find me a win.
Winning at something is the best medicine. It could be anything. Set a goal and reach it.
Going to the beach, being outside, shopping, getting a mani or pedi, taking a long hot shower, listening to music, reading, sometimes cleaning is therapeutic.
Everything you listed are a must, to have at all times. If one is lacking then the others start getting overdone to compensate and cope...
