I use a couple of different methods:
1. Change temperature- so if I am hot I need to get somewhere cold and vice versa. ( Really HOT showers are the best)
2. Talk about the problem
3. Seek Support

Music is my go to. Sad relatable music to release the emotions. A drive is the best way since I can listen to music during it. I want a punching bag for when I'm really angry.

Try to challenge the thoughts that are bothering me and see if there's another way to interpret the situation. Kind of a glass is half full, not half empty sort of thing. Put a positive spin to the negative thoughts (but still realistic, not optimistic).
Also helps me to try to find humor in situations. Like if I'm having a bad day already and it's raining and I'm walking down the street and a car speeds by and splashes me with water, it's like "Aww, shit!" But then I have to kind of laugh because it's funny. I try to find the funny in everything. That can help.

Help a friend out--be it chores or just hearing out their problems. You'll find out that your mood changes when you feel wanted and that you did something good for someone.
I listen to music, go for a drive or go for a workout. It depends on how depressed I am.
As for me I pack my cooler & I go for a little drive & enjoy a beach day.
Video games I prefer open-world games where I can get lost in the game world and I forget my troubles for a couple of hours.
meditation works for me and music is uplifting plus reading my bible all that stuff. o and a smile from somebody will do it too :)
