I've heard of that and seen some examples. In some cases, the robots can be more steady and accurate. The possibility of an accidental slip by a human is minimized.

I had a total hip replacement that was robotically assisted to make sure my left leg would be set at the same angle as my right leg and they both are the same length.

What will all these feminist dance theory degree holders do when Starbucks replaces them with an automated coffee machine. College degrees aren't what they used to be, everyone has a degree now.

At least more do than historically, as a percentage of the population, but it's still under 1/3 of people at least in the US. The current ruling class bases it's claim to authority on superior education, and protects the 'legitimacy' of the ruling class via that claim at all costs. Most of the dominance struggles in the US are based on the over-educated coastal elites trying to lord their education over everyone else, and preserve that power by gatekeeping it with increasingly insane, radical purity tests and loyalty demonstrations. If you want to make a living wage you have to have permission from an institution of higher indoctrination, which requires proving loyalty and solidarity with what the party says, no matter how insane or idiotic it is. That, to me is why these increasingly radical positions keep getting taken by university gatekeepers, they are loyalty tests for prospective ruling class members.

A gender studies or racial studies degree today is the same as a political science degree twenty five years ago; it is preparation for membership in the elite ruling class which will find a home for its useless members who can pass all the party loyalty tests required to graduate university today.

NormallyI would agree, but left wing interest groups have really deep pockets and don't care as much about what their commanders degree is in as whether the person they are giving authority to has completed ideological purity testing and indoctrination, and has demonstrated their loyalty. In the Soviet Union, a competent non-party-member was less likely to get a government job than an incompetent member, and it seems that trend is on the rise in America.
