Anyone get injured in the kitchen, (burned, cut, scalded) badly enough to get or should have gotten hospital treatment?

I ask this, because I recently cut off the end of my index finger with a razor sharp Bread Knife, and probably should have gone to the hospital for stitches. Luckily, I was able to tape the finger and the cut off piece back and it healed, but MAY never recover the 'feeling' in the tip of the index finger, and it makes feeling the violin string a little less 'positive',

We hear most accidents occur in the home, and I know some can be catastrophic.

What happened to you and how could it have been prevented?
