I drink a little because my social anxiety is through the roof, but smoking, I stay away from cigarettes. Messes with my asthma. I am seriously considering getting one of those marijuana cards, so I can get my anxiety under control. I was taking Xanax, but it changes my personality and makes me too open.

One time I stayed at the homeless shelter, and I swear EVERYONE down there that smoked cigarettes sold their food stamps to buy them. I can see why they take fraud so seriously. I don't mean to sound like the moral police, but food is so expensive, and the government is trying to help these people and they're basically giving them their middle finger!

I have a friend that works in pharmaceutical research, and she told once that weed has dozens, maybe hundreds of health benefits, and plus, it's not as bad as people make it out to be, and it being bad for the brain is some kind of wise tail invented by the government to get inside people's heads, just like how they used to say homosexuality is a disease.

I don't smoke that stuff much myself, but it does seem calming!

I don't drink alcohol very often at all but I do on occasion - maybe 10 times a year on average, and that's usually just a glass of wine or a mixed drink when we go out for dinner at a restaurant.
Certain drinks taste really good. I really enjoy good red wines. Some mixed drinks are really tasty, but I only care for the ones with rum, tequila or gin. I also like after dinner wines, port, brandy, certain liqueurs, etc.

Sometimes a slight buzz is pleasant. And every once in a while, it's fun to get kinda drunk. I'm a happy drunk. When I'm drunk, I love everything and everybody.
For example my wife and I have friends who used to hold karaoke parties at their house. I would sometimes get pretty drunk at those, loosen my inhibitions, and have a really good time. My wife was the designated driver.

I never liked cigarettes or cigars. I did smoke weed when I was younger, starting in high school. But about 10 years ago, I started smoking a tobacco pipe on occasion. It's relaxing and gives me a buzz without impairing my mental or physical abilities.

I drink only at social gatherings or at restaurants and when I am not the driver (and not to get drunk, I hate that feeling, feel sick the next day). I am not big into alcohol. It is a liver pickler and extra calories. Lol And I do not smoke often. Very rarely. Why do I? I love to chill.

I drink to feel nothing and hopefully sleep without nightmares.

Alcohol consumption is a relaxing activity every once in a while. For example if you do a lot of physical activity your muscles will be tight and you'll be experiencing some level of aching pain. If you work a high stress job, that can lead to tension and cause your neck and back muscles to become tight and lead to headaches. But if you have a few cold beers the alcohol interrupts the flow of calcium in muscle cells which prevents their contraction and helps you to loosen up a bit like a good massage.

I have quit now, but back then on college - I got my heart broken so bad, I chose the "wrong path" to cope up. I smoked and drank. Did not affect my academics, thankfully. A few female classmates approached me and they did have words of comfort but they told me they were sort of disappointed on the way I acted. I did not stop, but I smoked less (3 sticks per day) and drank waaay less (only every other weekend).

Then got my first job. It was stressful and has a culture of smoking during break, so there it is. I still smoked less than the average person in the office, around 3-5 sticks per day.

Then I got a new job, there were smokers still, but now we're like on the 25th floor and the smoke area is on the 2nd floor. Ain't nobody got time for that. I stopped smoking due to hassle of making the trip.

As for drinks, it became occational - get together, birthdays, select holidays.

Cigarette free now for almost 8 years. I don't even touch vape.

Smoking was an occupational hazard from a former job. I didn't ditch the habit when I changed jobs until I had a heart attack. Haven't smoked since. I only drink drinks that taste good, and I don't drink to get blitzed, so the same reason that I eat a nice steak or slice of pizza instead of food paste... it tastes pleasing to me.

I've never smoked, and I seldom drink but usually it is just socially.
We have a zero tolerance at the station, so if I'm called in to work I couldn't go if I had a drink.
I'm overly responsible so I don't drink much, and I have alcoholism on both sides of my family so now I am more concerned with that now.

I used to do it for stress relief, but I stopped smoking 2 or 3 years ago, and I stopped drinking about 2 months ago.

I felt like the impact the smoking and alcohol was having on my health was worse than the benefit of occasional stress relief.

Why do i drink and smoke? One... occupational hazard, Two.. lots of stress from everyday's life, so nothing compares with a nice 5min peace and quiet, enjoying my smoke and my coffee!

I don't. I've never smoked in my life (other than my older sister forcing me to take I puff when I was 5yo) and I drink in moderation... maybe one drink a week on average.

I don't smoke. And i only drink when people offer me drinks. I'm not for of most alcohol but I've learned people who drink typically don't like it when you're not drinking with them. So it's just easier.

Don’t smoke other than the occasional weed. I drink to not feel depressed, which is weird because it’s a de-stimulant.
