Girls, I just started working at an OB/GYN clinic, and run the lab, where I collect urine samples, do you get irritated when you have to pee in a cup?

A lot of ladies, especially the younger ones seem to get irritated when I ask for a sample of their urine. I’m just doing my job. What goes through your mind when you are asked for a pee sample? It would make my job a lot easier. I want my patients to be happy and comfortable. I got hired on at the clinic for my calm and welcoming demeanor, and once the patients are in the room, and I take health history, they are fine. I just don’t understand.

Once I get my patients in the room, and take health history, get them in a gown, and in the chair, they are smiling, comfortable, and calm. It’s just the lab test. I am curious if there is anything y’all would think that I could do to make the beginning of the appointment smooth and seamless. I also have quite a few that can’t go when they get there, and that is part of the problem. I have to give them water and Gatorade.

I also want to add that I’m not a creep in any way. My Dad is a retired GYN, of 35 years, and I always wanted to follow in his footsteps. I love helping people, and every single friend I had as a kid, and as of now, is a female. I’ve always gotten along better with women than men, and the job is fitting. I am an RN, not just some dude hired off the street to clarify.
