I had my Mirena inserted on August 3rd. I’ve had off and on cramping which I know is normal and bleeding but I want to know if anyone in the same boat as me. Ever since. I had a two day period. Woohoo! But off and on bleeding mostly spotting but a couple times I’ve needed to put a tampon in just for coverage and it’s been like that since insertion day

What Girls Said
My periods stopped. I am on my 4 Mirena and love it. Everything you are experiencing is normal.
I had the Mirena back in 2021. But I had it removed after 5 months. I had horrific cramps for the first 2 weeks, I was taking tramadol painkiller everyday and I could barely walk or shower myself because it was so painful, my partner had to help me with everything. After those 2 weeks I stopped taking tramadol and just started taking regular paracetamol & ibuprofen everyday, and still had difficulty with walking and especially sleeping. Some nights I would wake up screaming in pain. That lasted around 2 months. Eventually most of the cramping went away, but the IUD made me bleed a little bit everyday, so it made my periods worse. So after 5 months of BEGGING my doctor to remove the IUD, she finally agreed to removing it. I had some pain for a week after having it removed and then I was fine.
I have an irregular cervix and I have PCOS, so that’s why it was so horrible for me. I know that what you’re going through won’t be the same as what I went through (luckily for you!)
Ouch. I’m so sorry. My cervix was good and I don’t have pcos luckily. I can only imagine the pain you felt from what I felt in the beginning! I just wish the bleeding would stop here though
I was told that it can take up to a year for the bleeding to calm down. As long as your bleeding is light, then that’s normal and it should go away within a year. If your bleeding becomes heavy, you should talk to your doctor or a sexual health nurse.
