Anyone had or have epilepsy , if so how are you now?

Yes I have epilepsy and here are some interesting things for you to note.

Only 3% of epileptics are photo-sensitive, this means most epileptics are not affected by flashing lights, so can go clubbing, to the movies and play videogames normally.

Medicine has come extremely far, most people with epilepsy do not have struggles with pursuing a 'normal' life, can drive, and go out, drink and more. I have photo-sensitive epilepsy, but my medicine is absolutely magnificent, so I am able to drive, be seizure free, and view flashing lights.

Importantly, not all epileptic seizures are 'jerking on the floor unconscious', most are not.

@kelly6 I saw you asking about meds in another reply, the one that keeps me seizure free and able to drive, as long as I take it regularly im sure I could go without another seizure ever is called 'Levetiracetam' if you get a prescription for it, it may be called 'keppra', but the medical name your doctor will recognise is 'Levetiracetam'.

I really hope you find something that works for you or whoever you are asking this question for!

Yeah, I have epilepsy. because I had my first seizure at 15 months old I really don't any different. I'm on anti-epilepsy medications that keeps them mostly under control

My uncle does. It forced him to retire as he had a few episodes and he was temporarily banned from driving. He is doing better now but still occasionally has an episode

My girlfriend does. Kinda weird when she has an episode during sex but the sensations downstairs are out of site kind of weird continuing when she does but that's the way she wants it

I have Bipolar Disorder and learned that Bipolar is what is called an Epilepsy mental health disorder and medication I take is Depakote that actually controls the disorder plus mood swings.

My daughter was diagnosed last year. She had to stop driving for 6 months and fortunately she has had no more seizures She is still trying to get her meds sorted out.

Unfortunately there is no epilepsy med that comes without side-affects as I'm sure you're well aware, and your daughter is, but what works for me marvelously and keeps me seizure free is Levetiracetam. If she hasn't tried it already, I'd recommend her to ask her doctor,

I can hold a full license and drive, and live a 'normal' life. I hope your daughter finds something that works for her.
