I know this young lady that was born without chromosome number 19.
She can't speak, has seizures. I feel so sorry for her. Like she's locked in her mind. She can walk and scratch people. She's out of control and draws blood when her parents are trying to calm her down. Out come the nails!!

It's funny though. When my son and I visited her, she was like a little angel. But her poor Dad was standing there with blood dripping down his forearm from their fight they had before we got there.

Epilepsy is a common condition in itself. What I had years ago was a very rare condition that was similar, but caused by a totally different anomaly. I also was given a 50/50 chance of surviving it. They said that with what they knew at the time it may go away over time, or it may stay with you to the grave. The chances of me dying were very real. I have been on my deathbed a sew times. I should have died according to the doctors.

Had I had epilepsy, I would not have been at such a high risk of sudden death. I learned a lot about it epilepsy, so I could explain the differences between it and what I had, which was so rare it had not been given a name yet. It took the over 50 years before they knew enough about it to actually give it a name.

I was blessed in that I overcame it fully, and was cleared. Others have had their lives taken by it. You could not become excessively tired or very angry, or you would die.

For those who had epilepsy, they had to live a different kind of life, always monitoring their health and brain activity. Making sure they were not doing anything that would trigger an episode.

My golden retriever had 18 grand mal seizures a day in the last couple years until we figured out his cure. Those were brutal. Just awful. For him and us.

My doberman had a couple small ones as a pup until we learned baking soda causes seizures in dogs. We had been sprinkling the carpets with it thirty min before vacuuming and she was licking it up. They stopped by crating her during this process.

I knew a couple kids that had absent seizures (I believe they are called without looking it) briefly. They outgrew them.

Had a pretty good friend with it growing up... was there something specific you wanted to know? It's common in girls than guys, I was reading the other day. My friend also outgrew it in puberty (which is also sometimes a trigger to start or stop it).

What I've learned that people with Bipolar disorder are more prone to have epilepsy. My doctor has me on anti-seizure medications, plus other medications for my mood disorder. What I heard from Nami this person said that Bipolar is a mental health seizure disorder.

I've known a few people that have it. Apparently, there's enough of to make Huang Chung change their video for "Everybody Huang Chung Tonight". The original had thousands of edits and it was noticed that epileptics that watched it would have a seizure because of that.

I know 3 people with epilepsy. They are doing alright but for driving on highway, they are required to have someone who is with them. Other than that they never had a very difficult life as such.

My cousin has photosensitive epilepsy. She has learned to live with it, without drugs. Flat screen monitors have helped a lot. Swimming is out, though. Has to be careful with sun shining through trees while being in cars, buses and trains.

Granddaughter after beating brain cancer twice. Epilepsy. It is more common than people know. Most people afflicted by this are not vocal about it, and people are embarrassed about it
