My kidney is different in size is that normal?

My right kidney is 9.3 × 4.0 × 3.4 cm while my left kidney measures 10.1 × 4.3 × 4.4 cm is that normal size?

Well I used to be have an asthma as a kid and then I always take antibiotics so maybe it caused my right kidney to be smaller than the other kidney cuz I heard antibiotics can damage your kidneys.

Ah yeah, that makes sense. Taking a lot of antibiotics as a kid could definitely play a role in one kidney being a bit smaller. I've heard those meds can be rough on your organs sometimes.

And asthma probably led to more illnesses where they prescribed antibiotics too, so your little kidneys took more of a pounding than most. Makes it less surprising that they didn't develop totally symmetrically as a result.

But the fact yours are still pretty close in size, even with that medical history, tells me they must be keepin on strong overall. Kidneys can be resilient little buggers when they wanna be!

10.1 × 4.3 × 4.4 cm is a nice size for your kidney & the average kidney is between 10 & 13 cm. Usually the left kidney is longer & the right shorter & there are cases where that is reversed. Just remember your right kidney hangs slightly lower due to the presence of the liver on the right side placed anterior to the kidney.

9.3 × 4.0 × 3.4 cm for a kidney would be abnormal.

Actually I went to doctor she said my kidneys are normal and no ascites* like it is stated on my findings. And then I forgot to ask why is it different in size lol

Yes. I always drink water. I used to be overweight and I always have pain on my kidneys now my weight is normal and I dont feel the pain anymore.
